Re: Artist you're currently listening to.
I think their album has a really particular atmosphere to it that I haven't really heard very much lately, and it's all-around pleasant. Solid from start to finish.
Should probably just make a thread for Company of Thieves, but I have a question for you: Do you (or Mare) think that one of the only problems with the band is that their songs sometimes build bigger than they should be? New Letters, Under the Umbrella...actually disregard that statement, it's only two tracks that attempt to be super anthemy. also, bawwwww
I do see what you mean and agree to an extent, however I feel rather unsure about it since the premise of their band (according to their site) is that they tend to pay a lot of homage to their influences. So with that it becomes a question for me of whether they were trying to sound super anthemy on purpose in Under The Umbrella for instance to pay homage to a band such as The Beatles with the outro chant (ala "Hey Jude") or they were just trying to be a bit too ambitious and like you said build it up bigger than it should be. And what makes it more difficult is that they really do let their influences bleed through in their performance and delivery, I can definitely hear the Jonny Greenwood influence they note in the guitar playing on Old Letters and I definitely suspect there are definitely Jimmy Page influences (and maybe some Jeff Beck) behind the scenes based on how the guitarist tends to deliver his solos.

My friend got me into Matt & Kim recently. I like to think of them as a Dresden Dolls on happy pills.

To be honest (hate to say it) I never really paid Weezer much mind besides hearing the occasional single on the radio so today I finally took a dive into the deep end and just finished up listening to Pinkerton. I am definitely loving what I'm hearing.

Re: Artist you're currently listening to.
MOTFD are solid, but a little overhyped imo. Doesn't stop them from being good, but the way a lot of the indie kids are fapping over them like they were god's latest gift to indie is kind of annoying. I can easily think of several J-indie bands that show them up.

Oh really? I didn't know they were any popular. I just listened to Highlight on youtube, and decided to download their mini-album. Kind of lucked out and found a decent 320kbps rip
