Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
Well, I really enjoyed this album. Dance with God actually took me by surprise when that first chorus started. I literally wasn't expecting it then. Good song, I really like it. Melody was not bad at all, but also nothing special (but I thought that when I watched that live video). Lemon Drops: Ha, he really did say "she makes me excited many times!" Beyond the Moon was absolutely amazing. So. Good! Somebody could hand me a copy of Little Busters with Little Busters replaced with this song and I would be fooled. It really sounds like their older work, and Sawao's voice is so clear. Love it! Oh, yeah, and Foxes is there, too, huh? Johhny Strobe is too short. LIFE SIZE LIFE is a little better than what I expected of it, while Primer Beat is a little disappointing (still great, I guess I might have hyped it up too much). Woo paragraph. OOPARTS is alright with me.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
Beyond the Moon is a great song, but I was really disappointed after listening to it some more. It has a great intro which builds beautifully with the lead and vocals, but gets interrupted and crosshatched with verses that don't seem to fit well with the mood of the song, but regains its momentum at the end. Like the beginning is great, the middle portion is terrible, and the end is amazing. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one that notices this or feels that way over the song.

I'm not wanting to go into details, but I would just like to state that OOParts is definitely my least favorite pillows album.
@Jedi: What the hell? Little Busters better than Runner's High and Happy Bivouac? Just... what the hell, man? LB is godly, but so are RH and HB (I think RH is my favorite of the three)!

Well, I'll be waiting for my copy to arrive, I suppose... could take a while, though, as it JUST shipped from yesasia in Hong Kong yesterday and I can only pick things up on weekends... (I realize there's a download link, but I wanna wait till my copy arrives)

The older you get in the Diss-O-Meter, the cooler it makes you.
I'll go as far as saying the pillows' haven't released anything worthwhile since Kool Spice; fight the power!
So far I'm REAAALLY digging YOUR ORDER and Dance with God. I like this album alot, more than PP and WUx3

Its classy and jazzy, maybe the next single/album will be reminiscent of KS & LF. Here is to hoping for a jazz fusion album.

Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
Raid, no one is criticizing the pillows just to be trendy. If TJWX5 is right and the next album is full of winners like Primer Beat, I will buy that shit up and praise it as the best pillows album in years. Unfortunately we are more likely to get another album full of increasingly "quirky" and weak songs like Dance with God and FOXES.
I listen to new things the pillows release out of loyalty and hope, but they disappoint me more and more. If I come off as scathing in my reviews, it's not that I think it's cool to do so, it's that I sincerely don't like this crap they're putting out and want more than anything else for them to be as good as they once were.

IM LATE IM LATE GAAD I HATE BEING LATE Under the certain circumstances...I'm not able to download any programs on this computer to extract the album (or anything for that matter). Thus, I can't enjoy listening to it or to agree/disagree with all of your critiques. If anybody can be so kind to share me a zip file of it....I'd forever be grateful ..Please...

Huh? Why can't you just get WinRAR?
Also, I really do think Beyond the Moon is one of the best in a while. It's almost as good as Bran-New Lovesong, which (to me) is something, as Runners High is the best album in my eyes.
Damn it, Melody's growing on me.

And I really love HB & RH, HB more. But look at the songs in LB their are some of the pillows all time greatest, and musically I think more complex, and emotionally its exhilarating.
Raid, no one is criticizing the pillows just to be trendy. Since those styles are not really present anymore. I to felt the same way when around Ladybird Girl came out, but I gave it a chance and their new style really grew on me. I still love the older pillows stuff more than recent albums, but I still feel that connection with their music that I always have felt before. I hope I'm half right about the next album though!

Yeah, for sure. 2009's not over yet, but I've already had: Basement Jaxx - Scars Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! U2 - No Line On the Horizon Ringo Shiina - Sanmon Gossip Dinosaur Jr - Farm Kimura Kaela - Hocus Pocus God Help the Girl - God Help the Girl Cradle Orchestra - Velvet Ballads Company of Thieves - Ordinary Riches Perfume - Triangle Belle & Sebastian - The BCC Sessions Neko Case - Middle Cyclone
I like all of those albums MUCH more than OOPARTS, and the pillows are by far my favorite band. I'm just saying, if you can recognize that a new album by your favorite band is pretty weak, and nowhere near your "Best of the year" list...then that's bad. Usually we have some leeway in what our favorite artists put out. A mediocre album by the pillows will be thought of as "better" than a mediocre album by some band you've never heard of before. But when the mediocre trend just keeps on going (three quarters of My Foot, three quarters of WUx3, most of PP, most of OOPARTS) then it really becomes clear: mediocre music is mediocre music.
I was telling lastdinosaur17 last night, the pillows should have just not released the last three albums, and instead put out an album called like, No Surrender! or something, that looked like this: 1. No Surrender!! 2. Ladybird Girl 3. Mr. Droopy 4. Flag Star (shut up) 5. Lemon Drops 6. Primer Beat 7. 1989 8. New Animal 9. Wake Up! dodo 10. Scarecrow 11. BOAT HOUSE 12. Century Creepers
Done. Scrap the rest. That's a solid album right there.

I can only save files....megaupload works.

Thank god the pillows don't agree or we would have missed alot of great songs. Scarecrow, Skinny Blues, Pied Piper, Tokyo Bambi, Tokyo Zombie, Across The Metropolis, YOUR ORDER, Ameagari ni Mita Maboroshi, are excellent songs! There are some misses, but every album has misses.
And I really do not see how these albums are mediocre at all. You've probably said it before but I never seen it, please give me a brief description of why you and others think its mediocre? Not to argue, just for I can understand your stand point of view.
