I will forever love the pillows' jazz and heavier tracks the most... after Penalty Life, the heavier, guitar heavy tunes start to wane. The last song that I considered Godly was "Sono Mirai wa Ima"... it just enacts SO MUCH energy in me. My download will be complete soon... I'm kind of pumped for this!

You're still downloading shit! I already listened to the album again after you first post get broadband man.

I'm glad to hear that, the pillows are my favorite band can't beat them. They have such a wide variety a styles but yet you can still fell that distinct pillows sound in every song.

Word.

I love the band and everything they've done. I like some songs more than others, but they all get to me good.

Thanks much for the upload, kind sir. I'm flying up to Idaho for a wedding this weekend, so I can't afford to buy the album right now. This definitely helps. :)

DANCE WITH GOD!
LEMON DROPS!
JOHNNY STROBO!
BEYOND THE MOON!
PRIMER BEAT!
FOXES ISN'T TERRIBLE!

FRESHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ALBUM!

Life-size life LEADS INTO Primer Beat, it actually seems like a one-two punch to close the album.

Only gripe is Melody. It's like, not even the same song... tempo seems slower. Kinda boring. The rhythm guitar is too mushy... Solo seems confused; not as focused as the one he played live from the dvd.

Did I mention Johnny Strobo? :D

I'll reserve judgment for when I finish through the album, but I'm liking Dance With God.

They ruined Melody. Like, seriously. Everything was better in that live from the DVD.

But the rest of the album is pretty fresh. PRIMER BEAT is the winner for me.

Post Re: New Album 10.14.09-Ooparts
Specific notes:

Dance with God: really dug the overall feel. I got a bit of a similar vibe as Frontiers, but I think they're dissimilar enough that it's not a huge thing. Nice guitar, cool verses.

Melody: I think the slower tempo really suits the song and brings out the feeling better. Really digging the effect on the vocals in the prechorus, and I thought the solo was great. Like this a LOT better than I do the live version. Having the same sort of drum beat in the chorus as the song before it kind of sticks out to me though.

FOXES: the "interesting" song on the album, sort of like Phantom Pain was for PL. I liked the chorus, thought the verses were a bit eclectic. Not the best, maybe it'll grow on me.

Beyond the Moon: called this as my favorite track from the previews, didn't disappoint. From the very start I loved it. Reminds me of Spiky Brothers, the way Sawao actually uses his upper register like that in the verses. Beautiful song, great lyrics. I especially love the false build between the first and second verses, where it makes you expect a chorus but just keeps going into the next verse. The repeated theme that we heard in the preview, used earlier in the song by the dual guitars, is really nice melodically. Solo is short, but moves more as a complete phrase with the part immediately after it, which I also like. Additionally, the call and answer between the vox and lead in the verses. Basically, I'm REALLY digging this one. Definitely deserves the 6:29 length.

Johnny Strobo: Fantastic chorus, and good lead. Another strong track, I'm already sold on the album, past the halfway point and still great songs.

Life Size Life: Standard pop fare, nothing too interesting. What the hell is up with Shin and that drumbeat this album? The third song where I noticed the snare-bass-snare-bass-snare-bass thing going on in the chorus. Intro seemed to only be there to extend the song length, doesn't really add to it much imo.

Primer Beat: Sweet bass, nice drumming, fun guitar and vocals. Great way to close out the album.

Overall, I really like it. I'll give it some time to see how I like it overall compared to the other recent albums, but good stuff.
All right, enough nattering about.

Worst pillows album ever. You heard it here first. This isn't a prediction. It is an album review.

Pied Piper had Ladybird Girl, No Surrender, and That's a wonderful world.

OOPARTS has Lemon Drops (which suffers for being completely in wrecked English), and Primer Beat.

Pied Piper wins, OOPARTS is the worst pillows album as of now.
