Re: The Beatles Rock Band
by not being technically great i mean that i can play 99% of his stuff, and i'm a shitty drummer.

Re: The Beatles Rock Band
You can PLAY 99% of his stuff, or you can "play" 99% of his stuff in Rock Band?
Because it's one thing to "monkey see monkey do" and hit some notes when you're told and another to learn and reproduce in perfect time a complex drum line.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdrGS__yg6QSome of Ringo's best drums. Also the beatles invented MTV, which is isn't necessarily a positive.

Flawed logic here. You say that since you can play 99% of his stuff, that means that he doesn't have technical skills? So what about that last 1%? Is that 1% just an exception that you're disregarding for no legitimate reason?
Thing is, like I said, Ringo didn't like to show off. Hear that? He wasn't a show-off. So sure, most amateur drummers would be able to play a lot of his rhythms simply because he made them simple on purpose. His mantra was more about fitting into the background of a song, not playing the drums like a lead instrument.
The other thing is that the 1% you can't play is what separates you from a technically-skilled drummer like Ringo. If a drummer can pull off several impressive drum performances, then they obviously have some good technical skills. If they didn't, then they wouldn't have been able to play those technically challenging parts in the first place.
And trust me, that last 1% definitely showcases some technical finesse. Care to try them yourself?
- I Feel Fine's latin beat - The End's drum solo - A Day in the Life, Dear Prudence, and She Said She Said's complex, intricate fills - The unconventional beat in Tomorrow Never Knows
tl;dr: If Ringo wasn't great technically, then you should be able to play 100% of his stuff. No exceptions.
That's like saying that David Gilmour was a technically shitty guitarist because he didn't play like Yngwie Malmsteen.
no, he just is a shitty guitarist, malmsteen aside.

Re: The Beatles Rock Band
Shit, I want to get this and GH5.
I guess this is a little unconventional but when I play the drums on these games I rotate the bass pedal 180 degrees and use my heel. It was working good for me since I got it last year but recently the sensor pad got smashed in. I guess I'm unintentionally exerting too much force with it like that.
...My foot/leg cramps very quickly when I try it forwards/correct way. Maybe I have to position it somewhere else? I'll keep trying different places under the kit. I don't want to break my other pedal. I attached a piece of duct tape onto the sensor and it seems to be adding a layer of protection, but I'm guessing it would be more worth my time if I learned to use it the traditional way?

Re: The Beatles Rock Band
I bought the game when it first came out and I love it. When I use the bass drum pedal, I just use the ball of my foot. If I keep my feet flat on the pedal, my leg tires out pretty quickly.
