Sawao has always loved Impact, especially recently. The giant wall of it on the new single is kind of...yeah.

Worst album cover ever. Perhaps their way of getting us prepared for the epic fail of an album this will be.

It is preposterous... I think it's lulzy enough to fit the part (Japanese guys dressed like cowboys driving down the highway in a saloon-couchmobile, wtf) but it is completely synthetic... It's all photoshop (not great photoshop either, mushy textures on flag, exhaust, tire, bad blur on the lamp shade, etc.). There are no other cars on the road, there is no personality in the background (green and grey, what is this, gears of war?) Perhaps if they would have built a real saloon couch and drove it around... lol.

It is funny. I really like the idea. It's not very good, though, execution wise.

I don't really pay attention to album covers anymore. I mean... they don't really represent anything important.

seriously. pied piper was the first (and only) release they've done where i don't like [i]a single song.[/i]

the highest i'll hope for is being able to sit through even HALF of each song.

All indications point to this album being better than Pied Piper, IMO.

Melody is pretty good. Ameagari is cooler than a lot of the stuff we've seen recently... 1989, though not on the album, is also really touching.

...If this album isn't more impressive than PIED PIPER, then I'm seriously going to be dissapointed.

For PIED PIPER, basically all of the singles were the major songs for me. The rest were just "OK" pillows songs. I'm hoping the pillows can bring back some awesomeness for this album. However, their songs are starting to sound WAY to conventional for my tastes now a days. Luckily we still have Jun to spice of the bass and every once in a while Manabe does it right.

I wonder what would be said of previous albums in this case. They do release a lot of singles, but you're correct in that most of the flair in PP was ONLY in the singles, and less so in the other songs placed on the album.

What about No Surrender, Last Holiday, Wonderful World?

No surrender was good, not great. I wasn't really that big of a fan of last holiday for some reason; the same goes for wonderful world after a few listens.. i do dig the intro however.

sad to say, the whole album seemed to be a bit over-done. The more I listen to WUX3 the more I feel as though PP lost what I can only describe as "pillowness". It sounds like they are having fun, and doing their thing in WUX3 despite it being a sound im not as enthused about as with past albums, but in PP it seems as though the emotion is forced. I feel that I'm going to have to hop on the Jomei train and hope for something spectacular for ooparts. Their recent songs like ameagari, melody, and chelsea hotel have given me good feelings inside, and I would be surprised if they didnt continue this going into their 20th anniversary.

Don't go and jinx it now. It's been a pretty epic past few months for Pillows fans, I think that's an indication of good things yet to come.


I have high hopes for the next album, and confidence that they won't be dashed.

No Surrender is still my favorite song on the album. That said, I'm hoping there's better stuff on there as seen by Ameagari. I have higher hopes for this album that Pied Piper, and I do think we'll be pleasently surprised.
