The reasoning behind this is because some of the TOP20 haven't signed in for two+ weeks. If they haven't signed in to YT in so long, then they would've missed the deadline on the message Mare&GR, Tafu, and myself got... if these were solely for the TOP20, then people like aresbike (who did the New Animal cover) wouldn't even be in the top20 (since he hasn't signed in for so long, he couldn't have replied to the message).
So, could it be that those who received said message are the top 5? I'm asking others in the top 20 if they got the message as well.

and maaaybe CharmFace (not quite sure, he just said "hup up up!" in response to people talking about the email going out)
It's an interesting theory, about the top 5 already being chosen. But if we know a few more people got emails, then I guess it's wrong. I'm more inclined to think that they just sent out that email to international contestants. If they're really dropping $1000 per winner, I would hazard a guess that most, if not all, of the winners will be international. Maybe the #1 spot will be Japanese to ensure pillows-hangout fluency.
