Someone should do Monochrome Lovers. It's hella fun to sing, and has some really fast vocal lines.

If it makes you happy I'm in the middle of covering LIBERTY which is more or less the same style . Pssh.. not for this contest though just for fun. Though I would if I had a camera and some basic equipment. I'm about 70% done with the lead and the lyrics are no problem. Actually can anyone recommend me an online mixer I could use?

I think it's turning out that the non-Japanese entries are having the strongest straight-up covers, while the Japanese entries are having the more interesting reinterpretations of songs. One of my faves now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0kEvy-vuCwGives it an entirely new spin.

Yeah, at this point it's not looking good for anyone at IM...
Except for Ladybirdgirl, who never posts here (he and his band did Gazelle City). Moletown is going to go farther than IM it seems.

That Orange Film Garden cover just blew my mind.

Re: the pillows COVER CONTEST 〜ROAD to NIPPON BUDOKAN!!!〜
I've started work on a cover of Swanky Street. It's entirely sequenced, and I'm doing it all by ear. I'm planning to see about taking some creative liberties (no pun intended) with the arrangement here and there, adding some new parts, and then sing over it once it's done (and hope that I can sing as well as I think I can! (no pun intended again)). I can't play guitar, but I have six years or so of experience doing electronic music, so v v A lot of the time spent on it so far was just in trying to get the guitars to sound like anything that would remotely resemble how they're processed on the album recording. It's not even close to a replica of it, but I think the general sound is close enough to get about the same idea across. Here's what I have so far, it's just the first minute or so of the song: EDIT: Updated! See this post Thoughts?

Re: the pillows COVER CONTEST 〜ROAD to NIPPON BUDOKAN!!!〜
I finished my cover up, recorded all the instruments but the drums, which are sequenced, http://www.mediafire.com/?zqnnwmmwmdnBut the problem is, I need vocals. Initially I was going to do it with Utsuseru, but he's had some issues with recording equipment and whatnot, so I was wondering if anyone would like to record vocals for it? ;-; I would love you. This is a straight cover, didn't have time to re-arrange it or anything, and even though it looks extremely hard right about now, I'm still aiming to win. So please! Send me a PM or something. Also! If anyone hears something that sounds wrong, please tell me so I can fix it up. Thanks!

I wish I had a mic. I'd offer to help or do a cover with someone, but unfortunately, I'm SOL.

Damn, that sucks. Utsu came through with an amazing vocal track! So I don't really need anyone else to record vocals, thanks everyone.

A bit more progress! Once it gets into the chorus, though, the drums just start looping and the bass drops out because I haven't finished that section yet. I'll also probably need to either rework the refrain's guitars somehow or back them with a keyboard playing some extra chords because just having them play powerchords there doesn't sound quite right. (I'm doing this all by ear ) http://sl4.poned.com/music/wips/swankys ... r-wip4.mp3

And maybe a little more volume on the lead?
