So far I'd say you have a chance. But it all depends on how good the rest of the entries turn out to be. I could see you getting beaten out, but up until now the entries have been by and large really lackluster.

Truth.

We still have a good deal of time to submit, but I gotta say, I was expecting more people to "bring it." There were a few good 'copy bands' that did their thing pretty well. Enough to win a contest? Maybe. Then there were a few "experimental" renditions, namely Girls Don't Cry...but those ended up just being weird and way too distant from the original despite the amount of effort put into them. Then there are the typical single-instrument 'just aight' Youtube covers. Probably not going anywhere. Then there's the peculiar stuff like Tidus' Kono Yo No, and that one girl's multi-instrument, SUPER MOEEE~~ *kyuun~* rendition of Patricia. I think there's the most hope in that stuff.

It's hard to tell what the pillows will go for. A straight up copy cover? Or something a bit more original? It's tough to say.

I agree with GR, I think that they will pick a good amount of talented
covers, like Tidus because he put the time and effort to really make it
his own, and create the song for the piano. I really liked the Beautiful picture
cover but it might not make it to the top 5. It will make it to the top 20 but
if we put ours up in a week or so, a lot of the covers already up have NO chance.

For the record, my sister and I LOL'D at that end of that kono yo no cover... the part when that guy failed miserably. "Ikoooooooooooou... Ikoooooooooooou. IKOU! IKOU! IKOOOOOOOU!"

My favorites so far are the Beautiful Picture cover and... yeah... the acoustic Hybrid Rainbow. That's it.

Tidus, that was a pretty good and unique cover. I hope you at least get in the top 5. I don't know why there's so many Hybrid Rainbow covers. I mean, it's a good song and all, but it seems like every other one is Hybrid Rainbow. The only really good one is that acoustic version.

No, Jomei is right.

There have been very few truly good covers on there. Namely, the strange Girls Don't Cry one (though it wasn't my style), the Beautiful Picture one, the acoustic Hybrid Rainbow, that multi-instrument one some chick did of Patricia (meh musically, but very well-done as a video), and Tidus's kono yo no hate made piano arrangement. The rest have ranged from "pretty good" to absolute garbage.

If they are garbage, then we should stop viewing and commenting on them.
Honestly, I don't even look at any of the covers anymore, only the IM covers.

How are we going to know if they're good covers or garbage covers if we don't watch them? And generally the polite thing to do when you view a video is to leave some feedback, and if you're going to criticize, it's polite to also make a note of the things that they did well most of the time so as to not be a discouraging jackass.
