Not currently reading anything, but I plan to re-read Ender's Game (again lol, love that book), and then do some Japanese studying to keep myself knowledgeable.

I'll read John Steinbeck's East of Eden sometime soon.

It's a damn good book. Have you read any of the Ender's Shadow books? (They're about Bean.)

That's like me asking you if you've ever listened to Happy Bivouac (it has Carnival on it). ;)

I've read every single book in the Ender/Bean series, and loved every single one. It's one of my favorite series of all times.

I didn't really care for Children of the Mind. A Peter-like Ender just reminds me of a product of an ignorant, racist, fucked-up child from the 1950's, which oddly resembles an uncle of mine. And it would be more like asking if you've ever listened to White Incarnation. Oh so sweet, but different and more obscure...and maybe even BETTER in some ways. Also: My cousin has read the Ender series, but hasn't read the books about Bean. So, nyah.

On-topic: I've begun reading 1984 agonizingly slowly. I started today and am only on page 52 because I'll begin pondering mid-way while I'm reading. :dizzy:

Ender losing his innocence and becoming cynical is not becoming like Peter. It's him growing up and becoming a full human being instead of an idealistic character. I feel like the whole arc of the story really completes Ender as a person and really shows of Card's ability as an author to come up with realistic characters in his unrealistic, Sci-Fi environment.

Also, 1984 is fucking boss.

Guh, I need to read that someday.

I've been reading Traffic by Tom Vanderbilt (nothing to do with the movie, it's about actual traffic and driving).

Finished[or pretty much finished] I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings for English, now I'll probably read Da Vinci Code, and Mare has now made me interested in Ender's Game so I might give that a shot.

You won't regret it, that whole series is brilliant.

Reading Cat's Cradle (Vonnegut) as Sherlock Jolmes recommended. I am really enjoying it.

Cat's Cradle is really fucking good too.

I'm at the part where Winston's reading the book in 1984. It's pretty boring. Otherwise, an all-and-all interesting read. Now I see a lot more into pop culture references because of it, and damn, that book is huge.
