Fendey. Just go to the store and be like, "I want a fendey". They'll hook you up with a P or a J or whatever you look like you'd want.

the only amp i have is a shitty squier that my friend gave me. as of right now, i really can't be thinking about amps till i get the guitar/bass. i have been thinking of some amps i would like to buy how ever. like the fender bassman 100 watt amp. for guitar, perhaps fender, marshall or an orange.

First, you should take amplifiers more seriously. A $1000 guitar or bass will still sound like shit through a shit amp. Since you seem to be made of money, I'll recommend some nice combo amps.

Second, I would recomend a Fender bass, but don't let people make you a Fender whore. There are plenty of good quallity guitar and bass makes out there. And finally, fucking test everything out. Don't let stupid people on the internet tell you what to do with your 2000 fucking dollars.

stupid forum. i had posted something yesturday and it didn't go thru.
anyways, i am not really made out of money. but i don't think i will be happy spending over 1000 on a really great guitar/bass. 1000 is just fine for me.
i haven't looked over amps actually. i have been eyeing the fender bassman 100 watt amp. it would be nice as a gigging amp, cuz the ampeg i am considering is really expensive. as for guitar amps, not really made up my mind. but i probably would go with a marshall like that one.
i already am a fender whore. because it was what i was exposed to first a few years ago. i really like the designs of the guitars/basses.
and i had already said that i just need to go to a music shop and sit my ass down and try the gear. its really the only way i will know for sure which one i will like the best.

I go down like every day even though I'm pretty much happy with the gear I have already. That way if something comes up that I like, I can just go with it. You don't need everything all at once though, so it's good you're taking your time, I guess. If I were in your shoes I'd spend 750-1000 on a great guitar and start saving up again. It doesn't matter if it's much later when you buy your amp. Hell, I've been playing bass for a few years and I don't own a bass or an amp. In fact, I'm playing the shittiest bass around and the amp doesn't work anymore. I'm playing a Peavey Milestone II, and my squier bp 15 is completely dead. One of these days though I'll find a perfect bass for me and I'll be able to just buy it.

*bump*
i was playing around with my friend's epiphones explorer and i can already say that i am leaning more on a fender. yesturday while messing around with my guitar, i came up with a song. i still need to add tons of things too but it sounds cool. but when i played it on the explorer, the sound was too deep. i didn't like it. i really can't say that about all gibsons/epiphones but i like i said, i am leaning more on a fender guitar. i still want to try out rickenbacker tho...
damn! someone take me to guitar center!

Don't judge Gibsons by one Epiphone that you happened to play.

I was talking about how you said you were leaning more on a Fender with the your experience of the Explorer.

i know. thats why i said that i shouldn't say that about all gibsons/epiphones. it was only one explorer and i already didn't like the feel of it that much. especially the body. but thats obivious anyway. too tell you the truth, i really don't like how gibsons have the bridge on top of the body. i have gotten really used to mine bridge being recessed into the body...
well either way, i went to guitar center and tried out a few. i tried out the american telecaster and stratocaster, lite ash telecaster, epiphone wildkat and for basses: MIM jazz and USA with S-1 (and broken volume knob) P-bass.
i can honestly say that i like the feel of the MIA Tele. i am will to shelve out $1000 for that baby in chrome red!
