Greatest? Those are hardly the "greatest" songs by those respective artists.

However, as far as songs that are kick-ass, you made a decent list so far. As far as the "pop" genre goes, I'm not sure what it is exactly. I always differentiated pop from rock, but it looks like your interpretation is that rock is a subset of pop, which makes sense too.

yeah it's pretty biased... also, what do you think are better songs by each artist? i guess by pop i mean cathartic/feel good/sing along songs? at least that's what it ends up meaning to me.

LIST UPDATED LOL

Well, like Queen, their "greatest" song is probably "Bohemian Rhapsody," along with a few other iconic songs. "Don't Stop Me Now" just hasn't reached that same level of legendary status, although that says nothing about what would be best to put on a playlist.

My Sharona by The Knack is a pretty quintessential pop rock song. Oh and basically anything by Cheap Trick (esp. "I Want You To Want Me" and "Surrender").

i always found my sharona to be kind of annoying. *shrugs* i'd putsurrender on if it weren't for guitar hero killing that song for me.. i've heard it too much.

Huge props on the Cure and Morrissey on that list (though for Morrissey I might have to say Why Don't You Find Out for Yourself is a better choice). I don't get how you can make a list with Michael Jackson on it and leave Thriller off of it though. Also, for the Pixies I'd have to say either Here Comes Your Man or Wave of Mutilation over Gigantic. And for Bon Jovi, how can you forget Living on a Prayer?

thriller is all the video for me... the song is really not that great... doesn't really have the same content that smooth criminal has. on more thought, billie jean belongs on the list. here comes your man? yeah i'll do that. reminds me to add violent femmes.

living on a prayer? :dead:

that reminds me... Ours - femme fatale... and REM - king of the road

How about some Journey? Or alternatively "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry. Oh, and as long as there's no objections to hair metal for this list, get Animal by Def Leppard on there.

There are far too many great pop songs for this to be a realistic undertaking, but I like it anyway.

yeah but if i can fill one cd (700mb/5mb per song = 140 songs?) then i'd have myself a pretty good little cd there.
