But to be fair, in the studio recording he didn't need to yell, but live he kind of did for that passion to come through. Given it's really hard to hit notes while yelling imo.

Lolz at Sawao DanceMix 2.0.

Sure, Sawao has his good days and bad days like everyone else, but his voice is still better if he sings softly. Of course, a lot of the songs they've written lately need to be performed with energy, so the shouting works well for them. Songs like Girlfriend and Akanai Tobira need to be treated with a lighter touch. (Akanai Tobira live was still amazing though. Nothing changes that.)

Something I noticed with that interview that has Hybrid Rainbow at the end: Sawao does that "CAN YOU FEEL?" thing at the start of the song. I always thought that was something he started doing recently, but apparently not.
