OK, I'm sorry to hijack this thread. But really people, come on, really. The song Kim Deal is one song that DEFINES the pillows. It's one of those songs that just sets the bar, one of the songs that can pretty much sum up what the pillows are. It's got that quirky sound, a great melody, a kick ass solo by Manabe, what more could you want? One of the best songs off of HB and one of the best songs in their entire discography, hands down.
What about Happy Bivouac and Carnival? Kim Deal is a great song, but I rank those two a bit higher. The reason I keep listening to Kim Deal is for the vocals at the end.
This thread is about PML. Ok, I like Moon is Mine because its really rough, nd mellow at the same time, I like the way the melody goes together and the chorus is awesome.
DONT FORGET THE SOLO It's as if it's climbing up towards the moon
I've been hardcore rocking out to the Busters Live on the Planet version of PML lately.
The only PML song I can remember from Busters on the Planet would be Kanojyo wa Kyou, Is that it? It would have been cool to see them play Moon Is Mine on that dvd.

Anyways, there's that bootleg from '97 where you at least get to hear Moon is Mine live. A pretty good performace of it, I've always loved that live version.

not Last Dinosaur Carnival Crazy Sunshine Happy Bivouac Beautiful Morning With You or Advice
Kim deal is the one that defines the pillows? Maybe if you mean by definitive pillows song you mean run-of-the-mill pillows song.
don't get me wrong Kim Deal is grade A pillows, but it's grade A filler , whereas most of the rest of the album will save a person's soul.

Re: Please Mr. Lostman
Whoa, whoa. Filler? Kim Deal is anything but filler. Listen, Crazy Sunshine is my second all time favorite the pillows' song, because of the way it's written, the emotion in the vocals, the ltranslated lyrics themselves, the awesome solo and great melodies. So I personally rank that above Kim Deal. But when we're talking quintessential pillows' songs, songs that you can right away listen to and say, "Now THAT is a pillows' song!" Kim Deal is one of them. Another Morning is another. Swanky Street too. Kim Deal's got the loud guitars, heavy distortion, that quirky sound, the signature awesome Manabe solo (not the best he's ever done by any means, but still friggin awesome in the context of the song), and the production is pretty good I think too. I cannot say that anything on PML-HB is filler, there is no way. That is just the most prolific songwriting era for Sawao. 4 albums in 3 years, including B-sides which were all amzing!

If Kim Deal is run-of-the-mill pillows, then I've been listening to the wrong stuff. Where did you get this idea? What else do you consider fillers? One life? Hybrid Rainbow? Kim Deal is awesome, I know what you mean by filler songs, but Kim Deal cannot be a filler. Its too exciting.

Anything that isn't a single IS filler.

Mare, you're mistaking idiocy for Metal's extremely high standards when it comes to music. The man's clearly a connoisseur, and doesn't like having his time wasted.
