STYX
There wasn't a STYX thread so I thought I'd make one since STYX is awesome, or at least I think so. My favorite song is Crystal Ball and tied with that is Grand Illusion. Aside form the lyrics, the music itself is amazing; Beautiful harmony in Crystal Ball especially. Anyone else really like STYX or at least Tommy Shaw?
*If there is a thread that I somehow managed to not see, please tell me and then delete this thread.

Re: STYX
I think you are overly concerned with duplicate threads. In my opinion, if it's not readily visible, then it's outdated, so a new thread should be made anyway.
Aside from that, Styx is great, and Dennis DeYoung is an interesting vocalist.

Re: STYX
I put that there because people like to point out duplicate threads even if they are outdated and be like "LURK MOAR" and dumb shit.
Also yes, Dennis is an interesting vocalist and lyricist. The way he explains where Mr. Roboto comes from makes my mind reel. It would have just been easier for everyone had he just said "Listen to the song and use your imagination".

The search feature is also useful for checking to see if we've got old threads lyin' dormant.

I am just saying that those people are stupid-assed morons. Duplicate threads are only a concern on help forums. On social forums, reviving an old thread is simply inane, especially if the old thread is several pages long and populated with the opinions of irrelevant persons of the past. Unless there is a current, active thread on a topic, a new one should be made.
Edit: It would be like reading out loud a transcript of every conversation you've ever had (with anyone) on a certain topic before talking about it over lunch with friends.

Re: STYX
You are far too concerned with trivial shit Sheer.
Any ways, back on topic. STYX and Rush should be played on the same play list on random. Fly by night and Crystal Ball are two of the best albums ever.

Yes, and they plague my life. Yet, I still try to reform them.
As far as Styx goes, I like "The Grand Illusion," but I also like cheesy shit like "Mr. Roboto."
Their Greatest Hits album is one of the few in history that are populated by mostly good songs.

Re: STYX
Totally ignoring the top part of that post.
Mr. Roboto isn't that cheesy though, it's rather bad ass actually. Come Sail Away is the cheesiest STYX song ever. And yeah, there isn't a bad song on the greatest hits album. Which is surprising, because there's usually at least 2 songs that shouldn't even be on a greatest hits album, but apparently 12 songs isn't enough to warrant a greatest hits. Renegade is fucking awesome, and Blue Collar Man as well. Damn, STYX greatest hits is fucking rad.

Really? I have to say that "Come Sail Away" is also cheesy, perhaps cheesier than "Mr. Roboto," but they both still take the cheese. But yeah, there are very few albums, including compilations, that I can actually listen to every song (or nearly every song), and Styx GH is most certainly one of them. And I don't care what any of you say, but Hootie & the Blowfish's Cracked Rear View is another.

Re: STYX
There's really no reason to be rude right now seriously. I'm just trying to have civil conversations about things I like.
lolz I actually owned a copy of Cracked Rear View a long time ago. Ok yeah, I'll give you moderately cheesy, but no one else could have written Mr. Roboto any better than Dennis did.

Re: STYX
You are misinterpreting facetiousness as rudeness.
Anyway, I am not saying that "Mr. Roboto" isn't brilliant, because I think it is. It's just quite silly, like a Broadway Musical.

Re: STYX
Eh. Apparently it was supposed to be that way. Kind of over the top theatrical. The music video is proof of that. But I wish Dennis had... I dunno.. not been in the video because that ruined it for me. If it had just been dudes in robot costumes fighting each other, the video would have been much better. The song is pretty solid, but the video is too much Dennis. I think that's what makes it whimsical for me.
