STAR TREK
Why hasn't there been a Star Trek thread made yet? There's a new movie coming out and everything. Spock and Kirk in the academy! I am so fucking excited because the original series was boss and John Cho as Mr. Sulu! Anyone else think Deep Space Nine was bullshit?
*If there has been a Star Trek thread that I happened to over look, please let me know and delete this one.

Re: STAR TREK
Star Trek is too dated for me to enjoy it.

I'll find this thread relevant when I am actually able to see the movie.

Re: STAR TREK
Really? I'm a second generation Trekkie. I find the nostalgia to be one of the shows assets. It's great to look back on how our parents generation sci fi nerds thought today would look like. I still think the original series works today, even if the technology (or lack thereof) does come off as hokey. I cannot wait until photon phasers become reality.

Re: STAR TREK
Star Trek itself isn't that bad (they practically had to wing it every episode), but the next generation just looks entirely too cheesy now.
I prefer the older Doctor Who episodes for my fill of what they all thought the future would be like.

Next Generation although dated, is still rad due to it's story lines and memorable characters. THE FUCKING BORG. Also, Doctor Who, new and old is just fantastic.

Re: STAR TREK
I can't wait for the movie. I don't really like the original series, but the movie will probably fix that for me.
I'm a big fan of the next generation and voyager.

Re: STAR TREK
I love TNG. Watched that all the time, and yes, I'm PUMPED for the new movie, holy shit I saw the trailer for the first time before an episode of The Daily Show, I think it was the night Obama won the election. I'm watching this movie trailer and I'm like, "hmm what's this...wtf Starfleet Academy OH SHIT NEW STAR TREK WOAH LOOK AT YOUNG KIRK AND SPOCK WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN!!!
Exactly! I really hope this clears up a few misconceptions about how and when Spock and Kirk met, because in the original series the pilot episode had a different crew plus Spock, and at some point Kirk says they met in the academy, but then there's the episode that corresponds with the pilot featuring the original captain. I dunno, but I can't fucking wait.

Same here, I watch Star Trek with my dad. We have every volume of voyager, Enterprise, DS9 (I think this one is ok, not the best), and The next generation. Fun stuff.

Re: STAR TREK
I wouldn't mind seeing the movie, despite that I've never taken much interest in other Star Trek media. As a sidenote, I remember reading that J.J. Abrams is more of a Star Wars guy, and that he wants to bring that appeal to Star Trek. I think if I was a Star Trek fan I would be pretty pissed about that. Also, Doctor Who
