Precisely what I do. I was responding to the accusation that no one had a reason for their disliking of Penalty Life.

It's actually one of my favorite albums. Sure their are some songs that i don't like, but about 3/4 of the album i listen to alot. Even if you only like a couple songs, think of american albums, they have about 3 good songs, the rest are effortless and suck, but they could win best album solely based on theose 3 songs. I must say that i really enjoy Penalty Life much more than White Incarnation, Moon Gold, Kool Spice and Living Field, which i occasionally hear people raving about. It's all opinions, but i still think PL is better than their early stuff.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who [i]raves[/i] about living field. I mean, of course - everyone loves it but I REALLY love it. It's my favorite album of all time. I like all of the albums and I don't think they're up for comparison in this fashion though. The Pillows are such a unique band, bringing us a variety of music to suit our needs. Some days I need that really old Pillows sound, other times Penalty Life will suit me just fine. Most of the time, it happens to be Living Field, but hey.. that doesn't make the other albums inferior. I love Penalty Life just as much as any, but I can see some flaws in it. Who cares? I really love being able to open every single version of every song by the Pillows in one big playlist and realising after 10 hours of listening that I haven't had to skip a song once.

My main beef about the whole PENALTY LIFE thing is that the members who dislike it are constantly trying to force their opinions onto everyone else and ruin the album for those who do like it. Bigotry is not a virtue.
Some of you guys need to respect that this is, in fact, a community for the pillows. Of course that doesn't mean that you are forced to like everything that the band dishes out, but just be aware that for everything you hate there is someone out there who loves it. Keep your PENALTY LIFE opinions in the PENALTY LIFE threads, don't go around insulting people every time they mention it. I know that you guys can be more respectful than that.

I am glad to see that a few members were actually mature enough to step up and post their reasons for disliking the album (although I disagree with the reasoning, but that's just a matter of opinion). If bashing a band's work on their own community is your thing you better be prepared to back yourself up.
Now just resist the urge to turn every thread where PENALTY LIFE is mentioned into a hate fest and I will remove you from my hit-list.

I don't like to exploit my opinion so much that it becomes exageratted and I begin to hate my favorite band. That's just not what I do. So even if I "hated" penalty life or good dreams or whatever, it wouldn't matter. I wouldn't like to make my life miserable because I dislike something, I would like make it better becuase I can find good things in things others try to call "bad."

It's just not worth it.
