I consider liking ELLEGARDEN to be the same sort of thing as liking Ajikan. Solid songwriting with a wide appeal, but most especially their early mid-range stuff (for ELLEGARDEN this is "Don't Trust Anyone But Us" and "Bring Your Own Board!!", and for Ajikan it's "Sol-fa").

However Ajikan holds a massive win over Ellegarden for not having replica Tom DeLonge vocals.

Hosomi is nowhere near as whiny sounding as DeLonge is, there are very few singers that are. I have no clue why people get that vibe, what you hear is caused by his accent (try his songs in Japanese, no whiny sound there).

Do you have a clue [i]now[/i] why people get that vibe? The singer in Ellegarden (the band too, possibly) probably really likes bands like Blink 182, so it's not surprising that the vocalist sounds like DeLonge.

Actually in the verses of that one, he sounds similar to Billie Joe Armstrong or whatever his name is.

GR, I listen to Ellegarden more than most people on this board and am more than aware of what his voice sounds like. He used to work out over in California before starting Ellegarden, but while he developed better English than most Japanese rock artists that sing in English, he still has a slight accent that influences the tone of his vocals in a lot of songs.

This song has his singing in both Japanese and English, and you can hear a definite difference in the way the syllables are stressed when he uses the two languages:

I'm not denying that Hosomi is a fan of Blink-182, he is (as am I, they were the best thing pop punk ever put out over here), but his voice is far from a copy of Tom DeLonge. :/

New band from Shinichi Ubukata and Hidekazu Hinata.

mk so far have tried zeppet store(Swing,Slide,Sandpit&Clutch), sparta locals(Dreamer), kimura kaela(Kaela&Circle). all pretty good stuff, and will continue to grow on me.

I first heard of this band from an old compilation album years ago and was a fan ever since. They were involved with the BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad anime alongside the Beat Crusaders.
