Re: the pillows and religion.

No, when you say "kamisama" in Japanese it generally refers to "God."
Also, what I mean is most Japanese Buddhists I've met are like "I guess I'm Buddhist, but I don't really care." It's not a big part of their life and they don't actively believe in it. There are definitely devout Buddhists but it just seems like most people are a bit more apathetic towards religion.
It all depends on what sect of Buddhism they are as well. The vast majority don't see Buddha as a god, it's only that's only the Therevada branch. If the main religious symbol isn't even considered to be a god, there's really no point in being devout or anything; nothing beyond just using their life as an example.
I'm aware of that. I'm not talking about any branch of Buddhism and I don't give a shit if they believe in any sort of god at all, I'm just saying that a lot of Japanese people just really don't give a fuck about religion. GOD.
And Camio, you're just flat out wrong here. Again. As usual. You don't have to believe in any sort of god to make a statement like that, because the simple fact that many people believe in "God" as an all-powerful, omniscient being makes the statement valid. You could even take it to mean that he thinks that person is more important to him than God is to those who believe in God. Long story short, you've been proven wrong for several pages in a row now and basically need to just stop trying to argue a nonexistent point. Sawao doesn't need to believe in God to make statements like that. End of story.

lyrics are naturally up to interpretation. It's just up to you how far you want to stretch them.
It's likely that sawao isn't religious since the majority of japan isn't and his lines are somewhat blasphemous if a christian were to knit-pick. However the only way to know for sure is to get it from his mouth. And the only lines talking about god we have that he has said are the aforementioned lines which legitimizes the idea of god. Wether or not it is the intentional is up for debate.

Re: the pillows and religion.
just because you don't intend the literal meaning of a phrase doesn't change the literal meaning. No matter how smug you try to be you cant throw a veil on it.

Re: the pillows and religion.
You also can't throw a veil over the fact that you're being a closeminded fool, Camio. No matter how hard you argue, it is impossible to currently prove Sawao as either religious or non-religious, so you have to accept that it's very possible he doesn't actually mean that.

Sawao (at least) is very religious, just not Christian; He's a Shintoist.

Do you have anything to back this up? Because Shinto is sort of a joke. Is there really a "very religious" Shintoist?
