I'm going to venture that sawao's not religious but he's obviously not atheist since he acknowledge the idea of god. He sorta falls into this gray area. A lot like an agnostic but probably not as concrete in his stance as agnostics typically are.

You can also be religiously apathetic without being agnostic (as in "I just don't give a fuck") and still reference "God" in artistic endeavors, yo.

Well even though he just references god. He must still believe in a form of "god" for him to actual say anything about god. GR is ethicist isn't he? He doesn't like mentioning god and he believe in a bang rather then god. If sawao would reference god he need to have some believe in him.

There you go. Yeah, I used to spend a lot of time lurking around these boards just out of curiosity, especially the locked ones. Some of them are comedy gold. :)

Well, now that I think about it...Listen to the live of Thunder Whales Picnic.

:dizzy:
Compendium of religious pillows references:

Scarecrow: More than God, I believe in you
Sono Mirai wa Ima: It'll burn up like that, even God looks away
Kuuchuu REJISUTAA: Above this imperfect world that God has abandoned
Thunder Whales Picnic (916): God! Bless! You! Oh yeah!

If you wanna venture a guess from that, be my guest.
PS: Metal, just because an artist uses the word "God" in their lyrics doesn't automatically mean they're religious. Lyricists often use the word "God" sort of as a...poetic expression, rather than a reference to their religion or spirituality. Even Einstein, though not a lyricist, used the word "God" in a non-religious context.
Don't forget Smile: http://pirouzu.net/lyrics/smile/smile.html

You don't have to believe in something to mention it. Stay on topic of comedy gold (i.e. sarcastic/humorous posts about the pillows and religion).

I love and worship God.

Notice how I said that while simultaneously being an atheist?

Sawao is an agnostic.
Shin is Muslim.

I'm pretty sure Sawao is devote member of pastafarianism.

I know this because the second part of Smile are the words of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Also there's a high chance that they're totally or nearly totally NON-religious, because many "Buddhists" I've met in Japan couldn't give a rat's ass less about their religion.
Buddhism is very low maintenance, but also very high maintenance as a practitioner. You don't have to devote your life or become a monk to be buddhist, in fact, you could do very little in terms of lifestyle of a buddhist while still being one. It's non-exclusive and there's nothing that really "qualifies" you, but generally, if you don't follow anything in a buddhist way, and decide to live life in a way totally opposite to what is generally accepted as Buddhist, you'll have a hard time explaining how you still consider yourself one.

Also, when Sawao mentions God, I am pretty sure it's part metaphorical, and part translation. From what I understand of the japanese language, the word for god doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as in western society. It can be used to mean spirits, greater presences[like elements of the world], and just nature itself. Since there probably is no better way to word all those meanings in a song, I could easily see why using the word god[which for anyone who can understand words beyond just their normal meaning] would make sense.

Also, why do we even bother explaining things to Metal anymore?
