Nintendo has said that the DS isn't supposed to compete with the PSP. The rumor I've heard is that the next gameboy is gonna knock the PSP's socks off.
excuses, excuses :/

Nothing will help them. Unless they partner with Microsoft. Or something...

simple math.
PS2 > N64.
N64 = DS.
PS2 = PSP.
hence:
PSP > DS.

Like someone said on G4, it's like comparing apples and oranges. There aren't supposed to be direct competitors. That's fact.

who's going to invest in more than one handheld? especially since the DS and PSP are both new, with plenty of games still in the works. who cares if they arent supposed to be competitors, its just a fact that they are.

They definitely are two very different systems. The DS has the touch screen plus voice recognition and the PSP has better graphics plus the multimedia. I have never been one to care about graphics, so I don't really care that the PSP looks more purdy.
I currently don't own either one of these systems, but if I could own only one of them it would be an easy choice and I would choose the DS. The features of the DS easily prevail over PSP's gimmickry, in my opinion.
DS can do things that PSP can't. The only thing DS can't do is look as good.

the gba was (and still is) a damn good handheld. probably because they did port over a bunch of older games.

Yeah Cloud's, I was excited too when I heard about Goldeneye for the DS, but then I read it was Rouge Agent....and then I wept.

it's really not awkward to play. And it's pretty small for the fact that it had 2 screens. I think the DS is better personally. It's more innovative and less money. The only thing i want from the PSP is dynasty warriors. I'm a huge fan of the series. But i just got Dynast Warriors 5 for PS2 so i'm fine.
