 Re: what are you reading?
Saturday is pretty cool. Especially if you get obsessed with arguing about determinism like I do.

OHHH SERIOUSLY. Man I read that book that and couldn't sleep for a night just because it was so damn ridiculous but jeez is it a piece of literature. I like O'Brien though. He's a pure monster.
If you like that book and subject matter like that, I'd check out Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon. Even more depressing but its a fantastic book.
I'm reading Watchmen right now...again. Really good graphic novel.

 Re: what are you reading?
It's not horribly ridiculous, bu i can't stand 1984. The reasons for writing it are nice, but his actual writing is so boring.
I'm reading brave new world right now, until brisingr comes in the mail.

 Re: what are you reading?
Fuck you Clouds, that book is amazing.
I cried during the last two or three paragraphs. Most depressing thing ever.

 Re: what are you reading?
oh well.
I just finished The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams and it was not quite as good as Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Not at all, really. It had some really funny things but it all seemed wrong.

I thought the book actually left it sort of open where O'Brien's allegiance really lies. Okay, that might still make him something of a monster. And, I get what they were trying to do to Winston, but the last paragraph seemed to go a little too far. It was like... huh?
I actually liked Brave New World as well.

 Re: what are you reading?
I need to read Song of Solomon EDIT: I don't need to read Song of Solomon. I now need to read The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers.

 Re: what are you reading?
Oh wow, they have Murakami's newest novel on there... I'm not downloading, though. Books come pretty cheap if you get them used, anyway.
