Recently downloaded Mahoromatic, RahXephon, and a bit of Captain Harlock. Will be gradually watching these (or not so gradually, depending on how intense Rah gets).
Speak of the devil, I'm currently torrenting the full series of RahXephon. At 2.7 kb/s, and I'm not even sure if this is subbed, dubbed, ripped poorly or what? Did you use a good torrent, Mr. Jomes? Supposed to be a fantaaastic series.

Can't say the same for Mahoromatic. :|

The one I got came ripped all right with the subs right on it, rather than with optional audio/subtitle tracks. The torrent speed really varied... from like 20kb/s up to 250ish. Got the whole series (and some other crap... haven't checked what it is yet) in about 2... maybe two and half days. It's been interesting so far. Mahoromatic has been basically pervy fun as far as I've gotten. 8) Which is two episodes in.

Are they finally done with the fucking filler episodes of Bleach? I quit bothering to watch because it's boring as hell waiting week after week for filler.

(We're talking about the subbed version, not the AS dubbed one.)

Post Re: Anime (other than FLCL)
i think they still have a few eps left. The new arc is pretty decent though from what I've seen so far.

So i decided to pick a series at random and watch it a few nights ago, and picked rosario+vampire. It's sorta like Tenchi Muyo meets the whole "power of friendship" bullcrap that you usually find in a series aimed at a mostly preteen audience. But it seems it has a bit of an identity crisis because there's at least a few dozen underwear(panties) and tit jokes every episode. I always try to finish every anime I start that isn't complete shit, but I might have to make an exception for this one. Just another mediocre "ordinary jackass up to his ears in hot chicks but refuses to bang any of them" series that kinda follows the same retarded formula every episode.
1. introduce character
2. character falls in love with one of the two main characters
3. main characters resolve situation, followed immediately by 'power of friendship' speech
4. a pervy joke or two to end the episode on a happy note
5. credits

So if you like seeing anime panties every 5 seconds or so, despite it being just another boring ass series, then have at it, brahs. Otherwise, avoid it.

Yeah, when it comes to anime, I NEVER pick something at random. There's just so much garbage out there that you have to research before you commit to watching something. :dizzy:

Yeah, there is a lot of garbage out there, but if you're looking for something good, check out Baccano!, Monster, Minami-ke, Planetes, Detrot Metal City, and Seto no Hanayome.

Baccano! is about 1930s American underground bootleging scene. It has a pulp fiction feel to it due to the amount of characters and how they're all tied together. (13 eps + 3 OVAs)

Monster is about a talented Japanese surgeon in 1980s Germany. Basically he saves a little boy over a famous Opera singer because he got fed up of saving important people first, instead of the order people come in. But it turns out saving the boy was the worst decision he made. Extremely slow pacing, long, NOT action packed, but only 3 episodes were filler. So this is a great drama/thriller/mystery probably my favorite anime. (74 eps)

Planetes sounds extremely boring, it's about space debris management basically. But it's an extremely well done story and fleshed out characters, with some good humor. A great drama all together. (26 eps)

Minami-ke is a slice-of-life about 3 sisters. It's absolutely hilarious, I loved it from episode 1. If you watched and like Today in Class 5-2, it's by the same guy. Oh, don't watch season 2, it's fanservice garbage and ruined all the characters. And that's something considering that I love this series and couldn't even get past the second episode of the second season. (13 eps S1, 13 eps S2?)

Detroit Metal City is just hysterical. I didn't want to watch it because I really don't like metal at all, but I read the summary because it's popular. After reading the summary it seemed worthy of a download, and it's was a great decision. Don't question this, just download it. Also, RAPERAPERAPERAPERAPERAPERAPE. You'll understand.(? eps, I'm not too sure)

Seto no Hanayome is another great comedy. If there's a way to describe it, it would be a harem anime but the main guy already picked a girl and it's not a shit show. All the characters are great fun and add to the hilarity. (26 eps)

Those I'm quite sure people will like, if not, die.

Pulp Fiction-like feel sounds awesome. Can I trust this comparison? I've heard Monster is good, but I wonder if I have time to watch it all without losing interest. Also curious about DMC. Thanks for the suggestions.

Baccano has the characters, scene shuffle, and a bunch of little stories pulled together. But I guess this is a bit different from pulp fiction since it does have a plot to tie everything together. For Monster, I'd say download the first 4-8 episodes and watch it when you have free time. If by the first 4-8 episodes you don't get into it, then drop it. The pacing doesn't get any faster.

The best part of Pulp Fiction is the part where John Travolta gets shot the fuck up after he gets off the crapper.

How the hell is that supposed to be funny?

If anything, I'm just surprised that the lead singer is also the drummer. You don't see that very often.
