Re: Song Meanings
I don't think so? I've always thought of it as like, being at the end of the line. At your wits end if you will. That's what I read a while ago and it made sense. I was interested to read the other day that Ted Leo and the Pharmacists' "Me and Mia" is about eating disorders. The Mia in the song is Bulimia and the Anne/Anna is Anarexia. For those who haven't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsuC_dB77PIgood stuff.

Re: Song Meanings
"Mein Teil" is the first single by the German Industrial metal band Rammstein from their fourth album Reise, Reise. The Title means "My Part", but in the organic way, which is easy to understand in this "cannibal context". The song is inspired by the infamous case of Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes. In March 2001, in Rotenburg, Germany, the two men, both in their 40's, met each other, cut off and cooked Brandes' penis and consumed it together. Afterwards, Meiwes killed Brandes—allegedly with Brandes' consent—and ate his remains. As a result, Meiwes was originally sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in jail for manslaughter, but was later charged with murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. A prominent phrase in the song is "Denn du bist was du ißt und ihr wißt was es ist" ("Because you are what you eat and you (plural) know what it is").

Re: Song Meanings
In the song, Michael Stipe sings the lines "That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight/Losing my religion". The phrase "losing my religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States that means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression.[5] He told Q that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you."[6] Stipe compared the song's theme to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, saying, "It's just a classic obsession pop song. I've always felt the best kinds of songs are the ones where anybody can listen to it, put themselves in it and say, 'Yeah, that's me.'"
I've heard that. I useta research Rammstein sorta, i would look for lyrics translations and I found a good site and read that off of there. Interesting choices for their song subject matter

thats interesting because though I can comprehend it, I still dont totally get it. It just totally sounds like he is talking about a stripper who has lost it all and secretly has to stripe now and is upset about it

Re: Song Meanings
"Head Rolls Off" by Frightened Rabbit:
Scott Hutchison [from Frightened Rabbit]: It’s not about relationships – just dying and leaving something behind.
THE POP COP: Is it about atheism?
Scott Hutchison: Yeah, but it doesn’t matter so much, you can still believe in that [God] - what matters most is what you do whilst you are alive rather than what you do when you are dead... nothing to be done then!
The inverse of Stipe's song, I suppose.
