The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
Are there any other's out there who ever feel lonely in terms of their pillow-ige? When I ask this, I mean do you have any friends or family that also listens to the pillows? Do you like to keep it to yourself and don't want friends or family to listen? Do you constantly try to get other's into the pillows and fail in doing so (epically)? I've had little success finding anyone who lives in my city who likes the pillows (some of my friends like FLCL songs like Ride on Shooting Star, but that's it). I tried to get my sister into them (and failed) and I got my mom to like a few of their songs (her favorite is Little Busters)... but so far, it is overall fail. It really sucks because I find that no one around the house likes me listening to Japanese music and whenever I hang out with my friends they just want to listen to Haruka Kanata and Rewrite all day. Lately I've been longing some friends who can at least appreciate their music... It's much better to have people to talk to about the pillows out in RL rather than on the internets. I had a friend that played a ROSS duet with me on piano last year, and he liked the pillows a lot, but moved away shortly after. Unfortunately my pillowsness hadn't bloomed yet... so yeah. Anyways, back to the OP: Are there any other's out there who ever feel lonely in terms of their love for the pillows? EDIT: GR, don't kill me.

I've gotten tons of people into the pillows. I think I'm topping 20. Plus, all my family likes them except for my mom.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
I've tried to get two friends into them recently. One hates them AND me, and the other only listens to FLCL stuff still. My sister hates Japanese music. My dad thinks it is weird. And my mom... just accepts it. None of my brothers like it. Also, I'm homeschooling this year... I feel so... stressed out by this.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
My mom and my sister like them. My dad loves their middle-era stuff, which reminds me that he still has my copy of Little Busters in his truck. However, my roommates range from "eh" to "hate" and my little group of friends back home thoroughly hate them (they're morons though).
A roommate of mine from a couple years ago loved them, he was the only person I really could get excited about a new album with, but he's long graduated and out in that "real world" thing so I don't see him much.
(Btw, the last couple lines of that song, something about "scars that don't heal, love that doesn't go away, a light that doesn't go out, I guess I'll be here forever" or however that goes, gets to me every time I hear or even think about it)

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
I got to know the pillows after a childhood friend of mine downloaded the FLCL OST (he was addicted to have tons of anime music). He once told me that Kim deal was the best Japanese song ever. But that was one of the few pillows songs that he knew apart from the FLCL stuff; and I'm pretty sure since then (4-5 years) he has never listened to Japanese music again. Well, it's been 2-3 years since I started lurking in IM (before it became IM as we know today), and I noticed that KeitarO was Brazilian. Eventually bumped into him on slsk and we met each other. It is indeed awesome not only to have someone to talk about the pillows and discuss anything about them, but also to play their songs with with once in a while. As time went by, I begun to notice that besides being a very talented guitarist and a true pillows fan, he was a nice dude as well; I think of him today as a great friend of mine. Oh yes, and my 9-year old niece likes to sing I think I can (especially the chorus), my mother thinks "my son listens to Japanese rock, lol", my sister often states that her electronic-indian-progressive-trance-wtf music is better than my "Japanese crap", my friends at school used to say that I liked listening to "sushi-arigato-sayonara" lyrics and my girlfriend isn't daring enough to criticize anything about the pillows.

I've gotten my dad and mom and brother into them, plus a few friends. The whole family went into the city to see them in March.

I like the pillows But sadly no one else i know likes them I tried to get my friends into there music. But they insulted them. They couldn't appreciated. And another guy just does the typical stereo typing "I like that song cheu mey" Pisses me off He thinks all people are chinese/japanese related etc.

My brother likes some songs, and my parents think the pillows are cool, I guess. My friends don't seem to have much interest...

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
I haven't really got any of my friends into the band. My brothers like them a lot and appreciate their music but outside of that no one really cares. I don't mind really but I wish I could have some friends who were big fans of the band as I am.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
The people I know who are REALLY into the pillows are on this site. At my school it's not hard to find someone (if you know where to look, Japanese room lol) who've at least heard of the pillows or have some tracks of theirs on their iPod. But it always ends up in me weirdly going up to them and saying something along the lines of "Hey, you know the pillows? I'm sort of a pillows die-hard...they actually started out back in 1989 and have a ton of albums out...not just the FLCL soundtracks." Then I'll try to restrain myself from being to strange and annoying. I usually don't have much of an urge to get them more into the pillows..just give them the base info, and go off, knowing there is still much for them to learn. Then I spew on this forum. In the good-spew way, most of the time. And no auron, this thread doesn't irritate me.

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
I have only ONE friend who likes the pillows the way I do, but now he moved and live pretty far away. Actually, I've went to see the pillows to hollywood (in the first american tour -where I saw Kaze No Mirai-) and the show in Mexico city (though I live in Mexico, It's too far awar from my home, Baja California). My dad accept that they are good (he saw the pillows while I was watching my new Wake Up! Stand Up! And Go! DVD) but only that. It's very frustrating because most people just get blocked by the language barrier, and don't enjoy good music (like Sawao repeats on all North America presentations )

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
All my friends know that I'm really into the Pillows, but every one of them think it's silly and they constantly mock me for that. My ex-girlfriend hated them, but I eventually got her like the song Smile, but it was an accident. (That accident is completely different story and something I won't talk about at a public forum.) Nowadays she says that it's irritating that good music is spoiled with Japanese. But it seems like I have lost all my credibility in music conversations with my friends. "You listen to some fuckin' Japanese rock!" is a common argument. My father is very open to music, being a musician himself. So he never mocks them and always tell about what influences he hears in the Pillows and say it's a good band, but no more than that. But I don't mind. No one can stop me from almost start crying in a bus when Sawao goes "My song is your song".

Re: The Scar Whispers, NO ONE is in PARADISE
My dad thinks the pillows are for little girls. He likes "rock 'n' roll for men". He likes Gazelle City tho.
My friends only like FLCL songs.

Seriously. People and their opinions... I haven't had much grief about my fandom because I am home schooled.
