I know a lot of you don't listen to syrup, but for those who do, i thought you guys might want to know that they're going to disband. They're releasing one more album in January, and even requested it be released on Island, (it says because it was the label that U2 started on)and recently released a live dvd. They'll play their last live show in March. Hoping they release a dvd for this live as well.
I'm saddened because I'll never get to see them play live, which was a goal of mine for the last two years or so. But I can truly say that listening to their music has had an effect on my life. Hopefully the projects of the former members will be as productive and inspiring as syrup was.

It's sad to see that none of you guys are really into them, but oh well. Just got their final album today with my pillows/Nine Miles stuff, and I have to say, it's an absolute masterpiece. A bit more pop-styled than I was expecting, but all the songs have this air of solemnity overshadowing them. It gives a hauntingly beautiful feel (something which Syrup16g seems to do every time), but there's something about listening to this music knowing it's the last thing they're going to make. It's hard to say for sure, I'll have to give this a lot more listens, but it might be the best thing they ever made. I was a little afraid that it would underwhelm me, but while I'm really sad to see them breaking up, I'm glad that they made such a great final release.

TL;DR: GO LISTEN TO SYRUP16G BAWL.

Their break up is almost as sad as when Supercar broke up, hope their last performance will be as good as the last performance Supercar did. By the way is their last album called syrup16g? Its so inconvenient to find.

Yeah, the last album is self-titled. There are download links floating about, or hit me up and I'll up it to you later. I bought it off HMV (preordered, ftw).

You think that's bad, try being a hardcore classic rock fan. In the rare event that you do get to see your idols perform live, they're old - well beyond "Manabe-style" old.
