amidst the Lostman Go To Yesterday craziness, Ebay and Yahoo Japan has made an agreement to link the two sites. That means no more expensive fees (Celga Rinkya) to bid on Pillows stuff in Japan. Hooray!

What does the pillows have to do with two corporations merging?

Let's just stop to think for ooooooone second here.
People used to use rinkya to purchase pillows singles that are out of print and up for sale on yahoo auctions Japan. They no longer have to pay rinkya's fees to obtain it. I'd say that's definitely relevant to the pillows, especially since we have a thread in here about using rinkya to get pillows stuff.

Fricking awesome. Too bad this means the competition to get the item is now a whole lot greater now too.
Double-edged sword.

How will this work?

Has this happened yet? Because I'm looking at eBay now, and i don't see anything new or different about it.

Whoa. OK, so let me get this all straight:
1. Rinkya is now obsolete.
2. Come March, we in the US will be able to buy items directly from Japanese sellers on Ebay, without a middleman.
Am I correct?

Don't get too excited yet guys. You guys to realize that the option to ship overseas is still up to the seller, and most Japanese auctioneers don't and won't ship internationally. So, even if ebay and yahoo do merge, it isn't going to have any effect on us, because we still won't get most merch from our favorite band(s) via resources in Japan. Unless by some miracle the merger institutes some sort of necessity for the seller to ship overseas, or a shipping system like rinkya's already existing one.
All of this is why rinkya and goody-japan exists in the first place. Japanese people don't like to ship overseas. Amazon japan, delicious, busters shop are all perfect examples of that. Look at the ratio of people willing to ship overseas vs people who don't. Especially when it comes to pillows merch. So in the end it's not going to matter for us.
I have been shopping on the internet at Japanese stores a long time, and I don't see this merger changing anything.

Yeah, but if it's individual seller's, I'm pretty sure you could talk to them and try to get an agreement to pay for international shipping if you win.
That is, if you speak Japanese.
