Although Penalty Life has its share of grating/boring/unpleasant songs, I maintain that Freebee Honey, Noboranai Taiyou, I Know You, and especially Kizuato no Sasaki etc. are among the band's underappreciated gems.

Post Everyday
I've been listening to the Pillows for over 4 years, close to 5 & I've been listening to them pretty much every day since then, at least an hour a day when I can listen to music ... (there was that one time when my mp3 player got stolen & I was kinda bitter so I couldn't listen to music on my commute )

Does anyone know how much it would cost to buy the entire discography?

Oh, sometimes you've gotta do the work yourself. ^_^

Let's see... You'd have to find out what the all the earlier singles/early EPs go for on average on auctions, and you'd have to actually find them in auctions, so were not going to include all of that.

~30$ for full albums, starting at Living field and working up to WU3 would be twelve albums, so that's ~360$ plus total cumulative shipping.

DVDs are like, ~45$, I think, so BOTP, 916, LGTA, Delicious Bump, WOTS, and a few more... so that's like ~250-300$.

We're already to 600-700 bucks, and we haven't yet covered the singles and the Pantomime-Kool Spice swath...

Yeah, good luck with that.

Noboranai Taiyou is still hell of boring IMO. Besides that and Mole Town Prisoner, the rest of the album is pretty decent.

Dude. :| That's just... not cool. Noboronai is one of the best mellow songs by the pillows IMO. The drum opening kind of reminds me of a heart beat slowing down, and the guitars are kind of like a sleepy lullaby that creates a surreal feeling of fleeting dreams, where in Sawao's dream, he sees the girl he loves and sings when she sleeps--she's living in his dream... I really don't know how to explain myself, but I feel it's definitely one of their best songs when they combine both lyrics and actual melody into something solid, like how they were describing in that grunge thread. I beg you give it a relisten with the [translated] lyrics in mind.

You can easily get Moon Gold and Kool Spice still.

Also, Mole Town Prisoner is underapreciated, it has a sweet lead line, driving rhythm, and awesome lyrics.

The grating chorus detracts too much, and its solo is completely forgettable. No offense Mare, but you could probably find something "underappreciated" about Sawao's asshole. :/ Sick Vibration should have been on the album instead.

And Noboranai is still boring. I agree with Blank. It is like a lullaby in that it puts me to sleep. This is where Over Amp should have gone.

$1300 easy. That's not including the promos, compliations and flcl soundtracks.

Ouch dude. Just ouch. :(

I'm not saying that just out of OMG EVEYR PILLOWS SONG IS TEH ROXXORZZZ!!!!!!111, I'm saying that because I feel that song gets brushed off without any serious thought to how musically good it is. I guess it's just one of those preference things. Yeah, I like Sick Vibration more than Mole Town Prisoner, but that doesn't make Mole Town Prisoner bad. It's a fast, fun song with a great lead line, which most people don't seem to notice because they're busy brushing the song off as being "meh" without really listening too much into it.

Also, most pillows solos are forgettable, especially if you hardly listen to the song. :/

Oh man you did not just replace Phantom Pain.

Noboranai was one of my favorite pillows songs back when Penalty Life was the only album besides the FLCL soundtracks I could actually get my hands on. I still think it's fucking great.

But Mole Town Prisoner is total balls, guys. So is Lonesome Diamond, but you didn't hear me say that.
