How does changing your musical style every three years count as "experimental"?

It doesn't, this guy just doesn't really get that/used the wrong words. What he should have said is the pillows are a very dynamic band.

 someone's gonna save the thread
Why don't we use this time to get back on topic, a side-note of the topic that goes kinda like this...
If The Pillows were from America, grunge would have changed severely, maybe Nirvana wouldn't have had as much of an impact, and as a result the Foo Fighters wouldn't have formed.
Maybe, if The Pillows were from America, kids would be happier & more people would be playing music instead of being political,
Hypothetically, if The Pillows were from America, what would have happened to the 90's?

Yeah right, you're all naive.
If the pillows were from America they would've gotten screwed in the ass by big record companies. Also: Kashima and Jun would'nt've been tribute members.
Assuming they hadn't disbanded circa 1994.

If the Pillows were from America, wait...they're from Japan?
Really now.

I'm pretty sure you just answered yoru own fucking question.

He is actually a she, and yeah I guess dynamic works too, BUT in retrospect, it's pretty much the same thing. The sound they started with is umm.. not even in the same ball park as the sound they have now. Which kind of fucking means experimental.

I don't want to argue, but that doesn't make them experimental. In the context of music like this, experimental means they'd have to be pushing at or beyond the borders of the genre. They don't really do that.

I, however, DO want to argue. Cause I'm like that.
Example:
I used to like Strawberry Haagen Dazs ice cream a lot.
I ate a lot of it.
Then later, I thought "Hey, I like this Peaches & Cream kind better!"
So I switched from Strawberry to Peaches & Cream.
Now, I have discovered this other Black Raspberry/Chocolate kind. It's really good.
You'd be sort of weird to call my taste in ice cream "experimental". I'm just shifting my preferences and doing what I like best.
You COULD call me experimental if I often thought: "Hey. I wonder what would happen if I put tabasco sauce in my ice cream. Would this taste better with raisins in it? Maybe I should melt it first."
The word "experiment" implies that you're discovering something. Learning something new. The grounds may be untested, that's why you're experimenting. You're not really sure.
In the case of the White Incarnation -> Kool Spice jump, or Living Field -> PML jump...I'm 99% certain that Sawao thought: "Ok. This is our new sound. We're confident this sounds great, so we'll play the music. This is us, this is the pillows." There's nothing inherently experimental about doing something that is new to you.
ADMIT DEFEAT.

What?
Experiment in general means to try something new, especially to gain experience. Dynamic for music means to go beyond the range of volume.
