What I've got so far:
Supercar stuff
SPITZ stuff
Luminous Orange stuff
GitoGito Hustler stuff
The Blue Hearts - Stick Out
The Cherry Coke$ - Beer My Friend (highly recommend for fans of either the Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly)
Captain Straydum - 108Dreams
Next on the list (since I can only download 1 GB at a time): Suneohair
This is sooooo making my task of gathering material so much easier .

Get the stuff by the ARROWS as well. They're really good.
Also, Supercar rocks.
predators = trying too hard to be nirvana... not horrible but definitely not great. typhoon = accidentally downloaded trying to get typhoon24... it's dance music O_o bad dance music. typhoon24 = surprisingly bad. the beck soundtrack misled me. 10-feet = pretty cool. yeah that's all i've tried so far... why don't we all just keep downloading random stuff and reporting back? this could be useful after weeding out the visual kei and crap.
That a harsh statement seeing as they have a different sound from Nirvana. Predators is almost a cross between The Pillows and Nirvana and....some other band.

Well, I've downloaded, uh, let's see: 9BALL, Silver Fins, The Birthday, The Elephant Kashimashi, Number Girl, Zazen Boys, Analog Fish, Asobi Seksu, Luminous Orange, bloodthirsty butchers, and THEイナズマ戦隊...maybe more, but I don't think so. I haven't listened to all of it. 9BALL was pretty unimpressive. Silver Fins wasn't that bad, I guess, but kind of boring, and I haven't had a desire to listen to them again since the first time. You pretty well all know LO, NG, ZB, and bb, from what I can tell, and I don't think I've even listened to any of the rest of it yet.
Get the stuff by the ARROWS as well. They're really good.
What do you recommend to start me off?
Also, Supercar rocks.
Yeah, I still need to listen to A, which I got quite a while back...whoops.

It basically is Sawao trying to sound like Nirvana. But he's got his own style with it all.

Not really, it's the guitar that remind sme of Nirvana.
If Sawao wanted to sound like Kurt, he would slur his speech and sound depressed/complacent.

Isn't Suneohair just one guy? anyway, i only have one album (or is it a single? I don't know), Sun!Neo!Air!, which I got from IRC. Need to listen more of his music, but I really like Chiru Wakenai Darou.

Yeah, you can tell that he wanted to get some of his "grunge" influence out in a form that WASN'T the pillows (understandable). But of course, The Predators retain that super-polished poppiness that Sawao has so well engraved into the pillows.
Nirvana's a whole lot dirtier and raw, me thinks. Not to say I don't like The Predators though. They have their place.

I forgot to mention, check also Aiha Higurashi if you like light stuff with female vocals.
