Jesus, more people need to lean how to play the guitar.
I don't know if you were saying that to be critical or what, Sclone. The truth is I can't go through and listen to everyone's songs, as much as I'd like to, I just don't have to time (Wish I had more, but so is life... Harhar). But ANYWHO, fantastic quote. Just fantastic.

First things first, don't put a guitar solo over a song, unless you can
actually play the guitar. If you would like some help/ideas on
how and when to play lead I'm willing to help.
The song is really not bad at all. Very folk/country, reminded me greatly
of Frank Black. And because of that I like it.
If some of you don't hear the Frank Black in the song, listen
to "Coastline" off the album "Show Me Your Tears". I think it's the
last or next to last song on the album.

it wasnt until i joined 4 or 5 bands at once that i realized what a shitty musician i am.
recordings soon anyways, because i'll never be as laughably bad as zero.

i'll take some help/ideas/tips on lead, sclone. i really could use some good literature on the subject... right now i just use pentatonic minor and a little bit of diatonic... and i'm more or less just doing it by ear/feeling which isn't getting me too far, if you couldn't tell. BUT - to say that the solo shouldn't have even been tried/recorded is silly. we've all got to start somewhere.
i've had frank black suggested to me before, but haven't got around to listening to him.
and sheer: a friend of mine and i talked about that just last night, but we were pretty sure the solo was just too happy for the song, but in the right key... the song is just I IV V in G with a little bit of VIm so i'm pretty sure it should be in G, the others to try would be B and E (the relative major and minor amirite), but they sounded even weirder.

Majors have relative majors? I thought they only had a relative minor.

The relative minor of G major is E minor. The relative major of E minor is G major. There is no such thing as a relative major scale to a major scale, or a relative minor scale to a minor scale.
Assuming that you know the simplest and most popular form of the pentatonic scale, which is the minor pentatonic scale, you should solo in E minor. That is, E G A B D.
