Don't worry, they are all wimpy indie shit. I mean Wilco?? Come on...
yes, its about %85 wimpy indie shit. lots of way-too-sweet pop music, lots of folky acoustic crap, lots of artsy bullshit.

but i know im not the only person here who gets off on this stuff. :P

no... tha't snot the problem. bands that have no substance is the big thing.

here are bands i feel worth listening to from your list, and not because i went to the myspace links

Islands(not as good as the unicorns, though)
Of Montreal(older stuff is much better)
The Microphones(that one album)
Beirut (been done before, but still okay. it'd be better if you listened to a hawk and a hacksaw though, since jeremy barnes really helped this kid out)
Beat Happening(i like some stuff, don't remember what)
Sufjan Stevens(seeing him in concert was pretty cool, his albums are boring, though)
Animal Collective(nothing needs to be really said about these guys, except you better also have checked out the flaming lips)
Deerhoof(pretty good)
Neutral Milk Hotel(one of my favorites, no matter how many people say that)
The Magnetic Fields(yay)
The Shins(pretty good)
Belle & Sebastian(first two albums and dear catastrophe waitress. latest album is boring)
Jets to Brazil(yay)
Olivia Tremor Control(another one of my favorite bands)

and bands i don't like:
Wolf Parade (WHY)
The Stereo Future (I get that they hung out with the pillows... but they suck.)
The Notwist
The Arcade Fire
Wilco
Sunset Valley

Research proves that left-handers are 11x more likely to be dyslexic.

the stereo future are really good live, and a few tracks ('pretty eyes' for instance) are genuinely good songs..

what's your problem with wolf parade? or arcade fire? (just wondering)

Linked songs = coolness. I always like listening to new stuff, regardless of popular vs. indie status. Some of these I'll have to look further into when I get the chance. :groovin:

Thanks a bunch, A&W root beer...er, AWPJudy! :X

The Stereo Future were alright live. But on the Delicious Bump Show DVD they were fucking terrible.
Ever get the feeling that half of listening to music these days is an obscurist competition?
this isnt though :| since im actively trying to spread this stuff around.

and it'd be a dirty trick if i were just name dropping; about a quarter of these bands are from my home town.

I heard them in a Josher.

Copypasta (or Copy pasta, or COPY PASTA) is text on 4chan that gets copied and pasted over and over. This is how it works: someone posts something on /b/ that riles people up. People see the topic and copy that first inflammatory post. Then a week or so later someone posts it again. Or they might post it a day later. Or a minute later. Whatever. The flamewar starts over again.
