my copy of nimrod is beyond repair. amazingly, it still works in non-computer cd players. when it wants to. i used to worship the album. but not anymore.

i enjoy dookie very much. truth of the matter is that i don't actually listen to all of the album. mostly its all the songs that are total pop. (non genre pop).

however, i think that in the context the few songs that i have heard that came out after nimrod, they pretty much all sound the same to me. espeically in the strum patterns of mr. armstrong. this is especially common in american idiot. but i will admit that i have not heard the entire album for 2 reasons: its my little brother's and because i have no interest in it.

that being said, my over all stance on green day is that i used to hate green day for no apprent reason (also because my other brother was into them, tho not anymore). since then however, i don't have much against them. there is also the obvious: the american idiot album itself. i think its kind of hypocritical in the sense that they are all over the media with the song american idiot while the song is talking about certain aspects of the american media such as them constantly mis-informing the public because the government does not want us to know the real truth. but i of course need to re-read the lyrics to the song. furthermore, i believe that its total hypocracy on thousands of parents in the united states to let their children listen to the album when they are waving the american flag. i found this out when the album was about a month old and my brother, along with several of his friends, had recently gotten his mitts on it. in the area that i live, its a very family oriented community. its upper-middle class. soccer mom's every where. tho not 100% "leave it to beaver". additionally, the use of curse words in the album along with the parental advisory warning, seems to not matter for the kids. and the parents (in this area, because its upper-middle class and thus are considered "invisible") seem to not take notice. while i do not believe in censorship, i don't think its wise for 7th graders to be listening to such music at their age. if they took the time to know their kids...

oh dear, i've gone and ranted far too long.

I never really liked Green Day before American Idiot. All the songs I heard from them just sounded like very bland pop-punk. Granted I never actually checked out an album, it was just whatever was playing on TV or the radio. American Idiot was the first single that actually made me want to get the album (which I still have to do actually).

Meh. I used to really like them, but I guess I've just found other music that I connect with much more. They're still fun now and then; just not as interesting as, say, Noodles, the Pillows, the Strokes, etc.

i like them, i really like warning and dookie. Most of their stuff is really good, though the guitar playing isn't too creative, power chord here, power chord there. But still, they are catchy. But American Idiot isn't that bad. But it's just that they look stupid now and kind of sold out. The album is ok, some songs are alright, but i dont really like the album all too much. But yeah, i used to really like them.

Greenday's alright....But like you said, their older stuff is way better...I just don't like the personality of the new album. A bit too rebelious, or something. The only problem is that a lot of their songs sound the same. Just a bunch of Power chords, and not much else.

Regardless, I'm gonna go see them cause they're coming on tour (With My Chemical Romance) to where I live (Nebraska). O_O

Nebraska has hit the Jackpot, in terms of big bands coming here. All of a sudden, U2 (Meh), Slipknot (ick), Motley Crue (Meh), and Modest Mouse (Good.) are coming here. Suprises the hell outta me since we never get anything here...

i like them. including american idiot.
sure, it's different, but i don't think it's different in a bad way. there are other albums i like better, as already mentioned, but i enjoy american idiot as well and i think the idea of a concept album is well done.

i saw them in concert in january and it was my first concert ever and i enjoyed it very much.

and no, i am neither fourteen nor did i just get into them and other bands, because i saw them on mtv and they seemed as hardcore punk as good charlotte!!!111 that's actually what pisses me off. that kids who don't appreciate anything they've done in the past, only call themselves green day fans, because american idiot is shown on mtv and if you ask them which other albums they like or what's their favourite they go on like "uh..I ONLY KNOW AMERICAN IDIOT!!!" but this fact doesn't make me like the band less. i rather dislike half of the so-called "fans".
i won't go on with ranting, because i already did it in several other threads.

i don't think they've sold out.

thanks.

i was watching the emmy's awhile (dont ask why, i was bored) and when green day won an award, the guy announcing it said. "And why is this their first award if they've been playing so long. Maybe cause this album didn't suck" or something like that. Thats what really pissed me off.

Why the fuck do you care so much about what other people think? Who cares if they only like one album. And there's nothing wrong with MTV, it's just not what you like. Other people might like it.

I think you mean the Grammys; and Green Day should've won Album of the Year. But they had to give it to the dead guy. ALWAYS THE DEAD GUY!!!

Grammy Rule #1. If you die, you automatically win Album of the Year and all ther other awards; even if it sucks eggs.
