i really liked the show and at a funeral one of my relatives pointed out the back ground music (i was like, 11) so...November 2002
Were you watching FLCL at a funeral? Well, no one said that all the fun had to be taken out of a funeral. Because then all you'd be left with is an "eral," and what the hell is that?

no one wants to know what an Eral is

and haha. i sorta wish i was watchign it. it was a funeral reception...well a body viewing reception.
I've heard of them before, but I didn't get into them until I had first listened to their latest CD My Foot. Then I started to listen to all their other albums and realised how My Foot pales in comparison to White Incarnation. 8)
FLCL :P
I remember I had wanted to see the show since I saw the commercial, but I used to surf back then, and one day I went for a really long day, and came back when the first episode aired for the first time on AS, then the next week I spent the night at my cousin's new house.. before they had gotten cable installed ;_; so I had to wait for the THIRD week (or were they airing it weekdays? I forgot. Maybe it was weekdays) and I finally saw the third episode. I loved the show. Then I finally got to see it all the way through, and when I stopped payinig so much attention to the characters, I started hearing really cool music, then I heard the ending theme again, and instead of thinking OH GOD JAPANESE MUSIC LIKE THE BOKUTACHIWA THING FOR INUYASHA I finally went, "Hey.. this is actually pretty good.." Then one day I downloaded a bunch of music, both versions of Advice (actually all three :D), Carnival, Last Dinosaur, etc. Mostly stuff from Happy Bivouac that was on there.
I listened to that CD for like.. a year or two straight, because my computer had died. What sucks most? :P My computer was dead for nearly a year, (then we got a new one) so when the pillows first came to America, I found out about a month after they had already finished the tour. I could've actually gone that time.
Once I got my new computer, I jumped on the pilllows ASAP. Then I finally found out their real music isn't what's on that thar soundtrack dealy, and instead of having mostly soundtrack songs (whatever's on kazaa) I found out about torrents. I then used those :D and got the discography.
Lurv'd them evar sieence.
First song I sorta liked was ROSS, then after the 4th or so listen to, I got kind of annoyed by it, and then loved Carnival/Advice/Last Dinosaur/Stalker from the show. =D Zomgawrsh, those were my jams back before I knew songs outside of FLCL.

FLCL, in late summer 2003 when they showed it on AS. Went to Kazaa and burned a CD with Last Dinosaur, Ride on Shooting Star, Instant Music, and of course, Flame. Then I bought Fool on the Planet and the FLCL OST. Good thing I bought Fool on the Planet.

Friend recommended the music to me, but also told me to watch FLCL, I liked both alot, and here I am today-

I used to listen to a lot of their FLCL stuff and didn't really like Strange Chameleon at the time, but now it's one of my favorite songs. After FLCL music, I ventured to some of the B-sides: Juliet, Skeleton Liar, which I liked... then bought TYMT, LOVED it, bought Fool on the Planet, loved that too, then downloaded a lot of other stuff. I appreciate their older stuff from a musical standpoint, but TYMT is still my favorite album of theirs, right now at least.

I had a chat with one of my friends who has been a fan, in Japan, for a while, he was a few years older than me, and said that the pillows used to be bigger when he was my age (20 at the time). I was pretty happy to have met someone else who knew who the pillows were.

After my brother got back from Japan, he told me that the Pillows were a good band, so I listened to them. Turned out he was right.
