Post the princeton record exchange
rocks. hard. i just bought four japanese cds for 10 bucks. two were brand new, two were used but in perfect condition. ALL BUT ONE ARE PROMOTIONAL RELEASES - NOT FOR SALE. they say "SAMPLE LOAN" and "SAMPLE" around the ring. =P

one is a thirty-dollar album by kazumasa oda - "sou kana." i guess it's a collection of songs this guy does for various tv shows or something. he has a really good voice. marekenshin approves. i paid 2 dollars.

next we have a promotional release of "Piano Sings Utada Hikaru Melodies." this was a twenty-dollar cd. it's some pianist, takayoshi hirano, playing ten of utada's songs on piano. very relaxing, and the booklet has the sheet music to automatic in it. again, marekenshin approves. i paid 2 dollars.

the one i was most psyched about: SUPERCAR - FAIRWAY. PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE RELEASE, NOT FOR SALE. BRAND NEW. I CAME. TWICE. it's a ten/eleven dollar single, but the fact that it's promotional release (probably radio release) makes me cream my pants. i paid 2 bucks for this piece of badass music.

the last one was the most amazing deal ever. i got the 38-dollar Ki/oon record 10th anniversary special cd/dvd set. it has a cd with sixteen songs by various Ki/oon artists including a supercar song (white surf style five <3) and a song by l'arc-en-ciel. the dvd has 56 short pvs and five full-length pvs. i paid 4 dollars.

this record store tends to just have random japanese cds pop up every now and then, and i saw the supercar cd by pure chance, came, and then scoured the shelves for other cds. i only looked through a small portion of the store's cds, too. i've gotten good cds there in the past as well, but today's deal took the cake.

most of the japanese cds here are the freaking promotional releases. i was like, wtf how did they get these? you never see the radio releases of american groups, but you see japaneses ones more frequently, depending on the group. i've never seen one for supercar before.

getting them for two bucks was >:3

yeah, i noticed that japanese samples/promotionals are like all over the place, but it's something you almost never see in america... in either case, best cd deal ever.

The only Japanese band I like (so far) are the pillows. Is this worth it for me to make the ten to twenty minute drive to Princeton?

Edit: Also, on a totally unrelated sidenote, I want to go to the Guitar Center by the Oxford Valley Mall. I tried to get there once, but I accidentally ended up in Philadelphia. If you know where it is, maybe we should hit it up sometime. Or you could try to give me explicit directions from route 31 or I95. And if we opt for the former (in the near or far future), please don't be a murderer/a stalker/attracted to me. Just kidding. All true pillows fans are inherently good people.

Well, how about this: "I like the pillows. Maybe you can recommend something else that is similar to that, and maybe it appears in that record store."

i found some cds by the spitz there. i haven't purchased, but i d/led an album and find them to be pretty good.

for two bucks, you can't go wrong. if you don't like it, you still only spent two bucks on it. the place has an amazing selection of just music in general. better than any sam goodies or shit i've been in before. there's tons of just random cds and lps there.

Is there a normal selection of music, or is it all obscure Japanese music?

huge selection of music. every wall is covered with cds. and it's not that small. mostly american music, there's just some random japanese cds mixed in all over the place in the budget section and stuff.

It has pretty much everything. Yes, tons of popular stuff, but also tons of obscure/random stuff.

search "princeton record exchange" on google maps. it'll pop it up as result A. really cool place. I go there at least once every two weeks or so. Just to see what's up and what they have. if you come out here, let me know beforehand so i can meet you.
