They just sound alike. Put two songs together, there's a lot of similarities.
I don't totally agree about the band history thing with clouds, but I can see the reasoning behind thinking that.
The difference is Weezer's later albums are 100% crap. PL still has I Know You and Terminal Heaven's Rock on it.

I think the both the Pillows and Weezer had stronger fan bases back in the day with respect to their earlier works. Now that more people realize who both these bands are, they share one similiar critism - more and more casual fans today at the expense of original die hard fans. Both camps usually agree that the newer releases drifted from their what fans loved about them in the first place, rythms, lyrics, the old bassist was better and so forth. I've heard the same about both bands, "I love their older stuff but wtf about that last CD?" I always compared the pillows to a band from Texas, and I've called them my japanese The Toadies. I still love the pillows, now more than ever, I just wish they could have toured the US during LB, HB, and Runner's High. That would have been cool.

I still like the Pillows. But on the subject of Weezer.
blue album, Pinkerton and green album were good.
I hated Maladroit
Make Believe was ok. It had a few songs that were good. Beverly Hills was good but overplayed.

Green Album is actually pretty good, but it overused power chords and pop styles to make it enjoyable. Plus, Mikey Welsh was a pretty shitty bassist. I could probably say the same to Shriner. "Slave" is an exception.

I prefer Spearmint over Peppermint. Do you suppose you could redo your banner?
