Sclone: I hear you on Mr. Brown, his two speeds are either Gent or wanker, there's just no inbetween with him, writes some kick ass lyrics though. Do you like the newer bands like Kasabian and all that?
I really enjoyed Kasabian's self titled album, I started a thread about them
awhile back, not many takers. Cut Off, Test Transmission, Processed Beats
and LSF are my favorites. I can't wait till their new album comes out.
'Empire' is supposed to be released in Sept. I enjoyed the Libertines first album. Bloc Party is cool. MUSE has some excellent songs, but they also have alot of useless bloated pieces. I love Keane and I don't care who knows it.
Death in Vegas is another favorite of mine. I think all this needs it's own
thread. If you're into the scene as much as I am, we can hammer away
at this stuff for weeks.

I have a very hard time checking out the bands that I haven't heard about months ago that get posted on this forum.

Sclone: my best friend recommended Kasabian to me last spring and I was not dissappointed, amazing driving music...Keane is ok but I saw them live on a late night show and I think they were having a off night. I'll check out the other two...yeah we should definitely get another thread going. There is a lot of other stuff to get people turned on to, minds to open.

CDM: Do you like indie only or do you like other stuff too? Back in the day we just called it the music that didn't suck until the big Record execs were scrambling to lasso/categorize this music that caused kids suddenly not want to buy Winger and Warrant records. When Sawao mentioned that he grew up listening to punk rock (ie. real punk, sorry kids no Blink 182 back then! just NOFX whom they ripped off) I realized thats why I like their music so much because I think I grew up listening to alot of the same stuff he did.

Wow, I can't believe this thing is still going.
Oh wait, maybe he was reviewing the English Dubbed version? :o
Lol, that's the spirit. If you're gonna be a thin-skinned fanboy, you might as well have a sense of humor.

I haven't read the review, but to ignore Gazelle City is a dead giveaway: he's got no clue about talent and soul.

The lead guitar break alone puts a lump in my throat from the sheer grace and subtle creativity; Manabe gets more music out of fewer frets than any guitarist I've EVER heard. And there's more horsepower driving the heart of that song than Hybrid Rainbow.

Maybe knowing the backstory (and it has one- it's actually a straight-out narrative of real events) gives me a leg up, but anyone with a heart can feel true love in the lyrics. The running drums underneath it all has a very good impedance match to my neurochemistry; it never fails to jump my heart rate a good 20 bpm or more.

This song is clearly one of their all-time best.

It probably has to remain secret.

It's just a family thing, and I don't want to reveal details that they haven't made known. I mean it's not a big deal, but you know some of them are married, and this involved a change of residence...but also some significant events in their lives that they were putting some distance to.

(*chuckle*) If you knew who "Sunshine" was, it would mostly snap into focus.

But not all of it. I guess the thing I'm hinting at is that almost all of their music is inspired by their daily lives in a much more direct way than you might guess. (Pretty much the way it was with Lennon and McCartney.)

Hahaha, we're sunshine. The Pillows are telling us to get over their change in music.

Hahaha, but seriously, that's pretty cool that they put their life into their music. That's probably why there's so much feeling in it.
