Yeah, and I guess the point is to make sure everyone who comes here knows this is a pillows forum, not an FLCL forum. There are plenty of other places to talk about FLCL.

Has anyone seen BLOOD+? Or BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE, at least?
i really liked blood: the last vampire... except that it was too short.
i watched a couple episodes of BLOOD+ and didn't really like it. there was a scene that was too cheesy or something... i don't remember so well.
I guess I can understand that, it being cheesy, especially in the first bunch of episodes. But I don't mind cheesy stuff as long as it isn't that bad. Cheesy parts continue to pop up, I guess, but I never really thought about it before. Once the plot gets going, though . . . and you find out about Saya's past . . . wow.
I liked the movie, too, but it was way too short. If the ideas behind it had been more developed (like if there had actually been a plot), it would have been great. Of course, the show does that, changing some things, and I think it does a great job with it.
FLCL is probably my favorite anime, too, it's just that it's a taboo topic here because of the unsavory pillows fans it creates. (I mean, if you've ever been to the old pillows thread on gaia, you can see how annoying it can get when every other post is "I LOVE THE PILLOWS! MY FAV SONGS R RIDE ON SHOTING STAR HYBRID RAINBOW AND TELL ME WHY." ) I think most people here who have seen it really liked it, but because this is a pillows forum, we try not to talk about it so that this doesn't become a "the pillows; the band behind the ROCKING music from the HIT ANIME FOOLY COOLY!" forum.
Ahh.. so it all makes sense now.. I understand that. XD I thought you guys just seriously hated it, lmao. FLCL was the anime that introduced me to the pillows, from which I downloaded music of them, from which it taught me Japanese bands can be just as kickass as American bands, if not more. From them I discovered Asian Kung-fu Generation (Not through Naruto, the only other band I started liking through Anime was Orange Range.. and I still only like half of their stuff. @_@ I hated them for the longest time because of Shanghai Honey.. ugh. Also, Rie Fu [guess which anime made me like those two ]). From AKFG, I discovered Sambomaster, from Sambomaster I discovered Bump of Chicken.
Then I joined this forum, and a few months into my stay someone made a Go!Go!7188 thread. And I am forever grateful to whoever the fuck it was. That is my favorite band of all time now @_@ seconded by Black Sabbath.. awkward.
Anyway.. yes.. FLCL was/is cool.. I've just seen it so many effing times. And also for some reason, I prefer the dub over the sub, same with Cowboy Bebop and Trigun... damn Adult Swim.
It's funny to me how everyone looks down on FLCL. Personally, it's my favorite anime of all time (coming behind it are Beck, Galaxy Express 999 (the movie), Urusei Yatsura and Evangelion).
Mmmmmm...take out galaxy express, replace it with mononoke, and we've got rather identical faves.

Heh. Good points, all of them. I just don't mesh well with elitism is all.

Awesome. Always good to meet another UY fan. Whats your stance on Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road?

also, most of us quickly moved on to their music outside of FLCL, and the pillows themselves moved on a long time ago (well, until their american tours... ) as well. it's not their only work, so it's tiresome to keep talking/hearing about them solely in that context, like that's the only reason they're worth listening to- even though the FLCL soundtracks do include some of their best songs.
and the "what's that song when naota/haruko/kanchi..." questions just get annoying.

I just finished watching the last episode of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Probably a little overRated, but it was a very entertaining series. I'm really hoping for a second season.

Yes, exactly.
FLCL's probably one of my top picks as well, for the record. I pretty much feel the same way Jomei and terra do.

OVERRATED!
I just love it. I highly doubt if there's going to be a second season, and I kinda wish that there isn't, because it's a masterpiece as is. I don't want a bad second season to ruin it. I do hope that the books get translated to English, though, so I hope that the show gets licensed and dubbed soon just so that there's a chance of that happening.

I like maison ikkoku, prolly in my top 20, but never really got into kimagure orange road.
It sure is rare finding someone who likes urusei yatsura, though...show is so damn old that not many people have heard of it. Rumiko Takahashi's best show by quite a bit though, imo.
Sadly my roommates won't watch it with me because they think it's hentai
