Here's a plan: Set up an Instant Music recruit display and play only old and rare items like "Pantomime" and "YAER!!!"; and once in a while put their recent stuff in. If Sawao heard "Stand Up and Go" playing he'd be ecstatic.

Indeed. It may be easy for IM'ers to be like: "Yaer!" "Oh, yeah! Yaer!"...
...but for the pillows, its more like: "Yaer!" "Uh...wtf? Are you high or something?" "Son of a beach!" "Oh! You mean that old thing we did with acoustic guitars and shin on the tambourine? Uh...right. Damn crazy buster."
Oh, and I'm not so sure the pillows are too hot on requests. I'm not saying it's impossible - hey, it'd be sick as hell to get them to play Shiroi - but I'm betting they're gonna stick real close to the setlist.

Of course they're probably sticking to the setlist. The point is to try.

Of course, of course. First of all, that's why I intend to request songs they rarely play anymore, and definitely not stuff from FLCL. And second of all, I intend to try and request them in Japanese.
Hey, it could work. Didn't Sawao tell someone who was yelling out a song name to say it in Japanese?

If I go, I go to both. And Beautiful Morning With You wouldn't be a very good live song.

One of the difficulties with requested songs I assume...is that they haven't been practicing them recently. Bokura no Haree Suisei would be AMAZING to see! But the fact that it's pretty complex might make it tough to just play on the spot. Maybe Manabe's just that good and has it nailed down and completely memorized with no reason to practice - but I'd sure want some time to practice it beforehand.
Good luck with the request though.

It would be pretty awesome if they could just pull Smile or Kanojo wa kyou out of their asses by request. Also, I actually like the original Tiny Boat better.
Beautiful Picture live would be a mindblow.

that's what i was thinking too. it'd be great to here them play it, but when's the last time they played that live, or even played it at all? they'd defintiely need to practice.
but the one staple they need to play at EVERY show, the one song that NEVER gets old, ROSS. that along with no substance and i want to be salivan. if i could hear those two songs live i'd be able to die a happy man

At the Knitting Factory show last year, someone yelled out a request for Swanky Street and they played it. So the chances of them doing requests at these shows are decent, especially if it's a song they still play regularly.
