You would be suprised. The MIM Teles can come very close to the quality of American ones. The Highway One guitars are also a good choice. Too bad they aren't available in Daphne Blue anymore...
I haven't played a US Standard Tele in a while, but it's pretty common to change the bridge to a vintage three-saddle style. This gives a more traditional Tele tone... my experience with the six-saddle bridges is that it has a more generic 'electric guitar' tone than Tele. But if you don't have mind that, keep it on, I guess.
