I'm not saying that they aren't skilled, I'm just saying they bend notes too. And you are generalizing that people think that bending notes is a way of expressing emotion through music, when for almost all musicians playing anything is a way to do that. Besides, old blues artists pioneered non-classical non-cowboy guitar. They taught themselves their genre ( just like all those artists you enjoy so much) they just had more to work with from the start.

First, I hate the whoring of bends. On really stupid scales. Blues scales not only sound stupid, but are so simplistic and generic that it's so boring to listen to.
I recently got told by a fellow guitarist that I have no soul when I play. I asked why, and got told that I should bend more to add some emotion. It's people like that that I'm making fun of. These 'stupid idiots'.

Bends can be better for expressing some emotions. If you want to be a jock about it, man...
