Re: Adult Swim Sponsored US Tour in July
Thanks for the insight guys. Definitely not against Discord, just never heard of it before, as you just mentioned, GR. For me, I guess my age is showing because when I get home from work, I set a little time aside to check my regular sites, and this past week I kept checking back here on IM for info, and was really disappointed to see no one posting despite the tour having started!
But we're all at different spots in our lives, and for me, it's not too feasible for me to always be on my phone, so I do most of my Internet stuff on the desktop. But I can see the pros and cons of both the IM forum and Discord. I'll just be hopping on more to Discord, especially with tomorrow's show. I went through a little bit of stuff on the tour part of the Discord page. Anything really big I missed? Who's "Duck" by the way? I see her posting a lot. Is she on IM?
As an aside, I didn't see anything about the Noodles set except Mellow Metallica. Anything else played from way back when in their set? I remember in 2010 the only song they basically played from their older stuff was She, Her.
duck n noodles
duck/sittingduck has been a lurkin' for some time, but started posting more as the tour was announced, i think? memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=965Raid posted a pic of the Noodles setlist last night: Metaltic Nocturne, Mellow Metallica, warning you, SKIN, Electric The Sun, Ingrid Said, LOVE MY LIFE, 965, She, her. So a mix of new and old.
t silent t, wow! You are clearly an angel Forever thankful
Oh, I thought that was you. I heard someone call you Cloudy, but I wasn't sure I heard right. I actually saw that group picture being taken. You managed to get a pic with Shin, impressive, I didn't even see him exit the venue. I saw Sawao and Manabe though. I'm glad you were able to make the show. Also, pretty certain that's Ducki/sittingduck right next to Cloudy.

I zeroed in on Shin, had to get that photo! As I walked over there he was heading away from the flock. He was definitely the first one to go to the van. Were you the one talking with MyFoot near the street corner? It would have been a nice photo op but I didn't think of it at the time to ask around.

Re: Adult Swim Sponsored US Tour in July

Ugh. This is terrible and a huge pet peeve of mine. Yes, pretty much nobody is there to see Cullen Omori perform. But to deliberately disrespect someone who is performing for you like that, and someone who *knows* they're not the main event...that's just garbage. And really entitled. Like, do these people think the pillows think its cool or funny when the crowd shouts out pillows tracks to their openers? It's so selfish and gross.

I don't even want to question why. I'd probably just blame where these people lie on "the spectrum". I kid, but really just don't be a dick.
So, I kinda assumed Sawao digged Cullen's music so he got him on the tour or something, but what do I know.
But yeah, I liked Cullen Omori's stuff. His lead guitarist was groovy, I liked his style. The sound has like a 70s vibe or something. And even though there were obnoxious hecklers during their performance, other people still gave lotta love to their bassist, Ryan, screaming his name and making heart symbols with their hands, etc.
Anyways, I'd recommend his music to anyone who isn't close-minded. One of his songs was featured in that popular Netflix drama about teenagers and suicide. So maybe it was possible some people were there for Cullen Omori.
I believe they were selling a 12inch and maybe a 7inch or CD. Also, Cullen makes his own damn shirts. He makes them himself.
So check him out.

Is MyFoot the guy who came from Toronto? Or is he the guy with the beard? Either way I was talking to both those people at some point.
SELLING TICKETS TO THE SEATTLE SHOW ON 6/15 Sad as I am, I can't make it to the Seattle show that I bought tickets for. I waited too long on getting a plane ticket, and now flights are absurdly expensive. For that reason, I have two tickets, purchased for $30 per, that I am selling UNDER COST to the show. I'm asking $45 for both tickets. I'm not trying to make money on this, just hoping that the tickets go to a fan. Still really disappointed that LA sold out so fast, and kicking myself for not getting airfare soon enough. Please email me at maestersaturn@gmail.com if you're interested, apparently Ticketmaster can transfer tickets to another email address, but I don't think I can get a refund. OR, if you know someone who's interested please let them know!
Last chance if anyone still needs these tickets for tonight. I'll sell them under cost at this point, $30 for both!

I'm not sure how many people want their real names posted online and linked to their screen names, so I'll refrain from using them despite not knowing most people's screen names. If anyone else from either NY show that I met wants to help me link their screen name to themselves, I would appreciate it if you're here (i.e. Puerto Rico, Florida (1st in line), Detroit that I saw at the airport, Detroit that I stood behind 7/12, Texas without earplugs, everyone else...). Thanks! I heard of or saw a lot of people either with a parent, or who received help from a parent/loved one to be able to get to the shows. I think that's pretty awesome. If any one here was one of those people, give whoever helped you make it another thanks from me. It was cool seeing so many people come from all over at very short notice, and I can imagine how much it meant to you guys to be able to make it. And a big thanks to sitting duck and anyone else who offered or sold tickets to other fans instead of scalping them. I probably wouldn't have budgeted for the trip if I hadn't gotten tickets early enough to plan. Once I had a ticket I completely ignored my budget of course, but it was worth it.

Re: Adult Swim Sponsored US Tour in July
I guess I’ll post something here on my experience at Gramercy and Irving! :> My bf and I flew from Alabama for both shows. We had fast lane tickets for both shows but we still waited about 5 hours in line before the show to make sure we were first to go inside the venue. We got in line at 1pm for Gramercy. We actually saw the band enter the venue! Its a one way entrance through the front of the Gramercy so I new if we go there early enough I could catch them entering. They came out of the taxi around 2:30pm.a I waved at them from about 8 feet away. Sawao looked at me and noticed my Sawao x Wasao shirt (Which has a photo of Sawao on it) He smiled, pointed at it and gave me a big thumbs up! They quickly entered with their guitars after that. Sato came out for a few smoke breaks. We tried to leave him alone so he wouldn’t run away. The 2nd or 3rd time he came out I waited for him to finish his cigarette and kindly asked if he would please sign my Happy Bivouac cd. He did! c: Later Manabe came out to vape. I quickly asked him to sign the cd too. I said “thank you sooo much!” and started to turn around. He said “wait..” He reached into his pocket and handed me one of his picks! Alucard also got his Living Field cd signed at this time! <3 I made it into the venue first and went straight to the merch table. I bought shirts for my family, bf and I. Also got the rubik’s cube! :> I went to the stage and grabbed a spot in front of manabe against the railing. The Gramercy show was awesome! The crowd was very respectful and responsive. Lots of jumping and singing along. We had some crowd surfers and plenty of the usual pushing. Nothing bad enough to ruin the fun! Sawao was pointing his guitar as people like a gun and going “pew”. He did it to me xD Manabe tossed 3 picks into the crowd during this show. The 2nd he tossed right at me! He threw it a little short and it landed right outside the railing. I had to get help picking it back up >< I have a bootleg recording from my phone. The audio is pretty good except for the bouncing of my bag at some points. (My Irving recording is much better) Gramercy bootleg: https://www.dropbox.com/s/isqlee2qlnf6n ... 8.m4a?dl=0Irving bootleg: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6sjtcqkzu7ict ... 8.m4a?dl=0The Pillows did come out to do signings and photos after the show around 11:30am. I actually missed this because I went home right after the show. 5 hours standing in the sun took a toll on us. The Irving line was much better! We got there around 2:30pm and we were 2nd in line. We had some nice shade and a curb to sit on! We didn’t get to see the band come in because they had a secret side entrance. When we entered I took the same spot right in front of Manabe. This venue could hold twice what Gramercy could and the crowds energy double with that. Everyone was singing alone! Lots of jumping and moving around. You could tell the whole band was feeling good about it. Manabe hung his guitar over the edge of the stage just far enough to let us touch the tip of the guitar head. Sawao was giving fist pumps and Arie was winking at me during the show. We had crowd surfers again and lots of pushing. It was painful at times but I didn’t let it ruin the experience. I was rocking out like CRAZY! Jumping and throwing my fist in the air! It was the best time of my life. During all of this I looked over at Biscuit Hammer and he gave me a big high five! It was fucking awesome! There’s nothing better than rocking out while surrounded by friends They changed up the set list for this show and we got to hear Sleepy Head! Arie did an amazing job with the bass solo. He’s officially my new favorite bassist. He has this sick groove to him on stage. He moves so smoothly. He’s just a joy to watch play. After the show we headed outside to wait for the band. The staff started telling people to get off the front sidewalk and not hang around the door. They loaded up everything unto the u-haul and van but never left. And the band hadn’t came out once. We tried our best to watch the front and side exits so we’d be sure not to miss them. A lot of people gave up and went home. Finally at 1am they came out of the side door. Only a handful of fans were left. Everyone was calm and polite! It was super cool to see. No screaming or running, just everyone saying hi and getting stuff signed. I was able to get Sawao’s signature on my cd which made it a full band signature! I have a little video of me saying goodbye to the band. Excuse my disheveled appearance. I was covered in other peoples sweat and my makeup was ruined xD https://youtu.be/ctoPr7FIL6AThis whole experience has been the greatest moment of my life. Truly unforgettable. I knew if I missed these shows I would regret it forever. I’m glad I took the jump and went for it. I may be more broke than I’ve ever been before, but I’m at the happiest point in my life I’m fully aware this might be the last time I see The Pillows, and if so I’m totally fine with that. They were perfect. :’)

Re: Adult Swim Sponsored US Tour in July
Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted here, I have mostly hung around the Discord during this nice pillows hype revival. I'm "Biscuit Hammer" on Discord and which was funny to see who called me "Raid" or "Biscuit Hammer" when we met irl. I am still recovering from the long travels and the massive toll two pillows shows in a row take up on your body but I've finally found some time to write up my tour experience here. I flew in from Puerto Rico for these shows with my gf. It was a wonderful bookmark to compare how much we have evolved and went through these past 7 years since the first time we traveled together was for the 2011 NYC Gramercy show. I'm sure we can all relate that even though we're getting older and have more on our plates and our music tastes have evolved, hearing the pillows' music instantly brings us back to being that kid we were when we first listened to their amazing discography. We lined up for the Gramercy show at around 4pm, the doors opened at 6pm and the line wasn't long at all, so I managed to get a spot up front with around duck and her bf... but I was also surprised at the amount of actually dedicated pillows fans that were in that specific side of the stage too. The pre-show hype with the crowd was great, everyone was discussing what their favorite albums, songs, etc was. At one point some guy just said "holy shit, we are actually talking about the pillows, this is such a huge relief" which is exactly how I felt. I forgot was it was like to talk about my favorite band with other die-hard pillows fans. Cullen Omori was pretty cool, I liked their chill vibes and Ryan (bassist) won over the crowd pretty hard. Noodles was amazing even with Sato filling up on drums. Our side of the stage was right in front of Yoko so we made sure to fill in for the hype the rest of the crowd may have not had since noodles aren't as popular. They are also one of my favorite bands ever so it was a huge treat to see noodles too. When the pillows started the crowd started pushing pretty hard which is honestly no big deal and I've been through worse, but I felt a little bad for some of the shorter people in the front that were struggling to see the show. The Gramercy's sound was so nice and crisp, but it was pretty hot and the massive crowd was a little hard to handle sometimes. Standard FLCL set list which is what everyone expected. Freebie Honey sounds amazing live and The Third Eye is a classic pillows song by now... but hooooolllyyyyy shit I feel like the performance of Hybrid Rainbow in this show changed me. I have never felt so much emotion and raw energy at a concert before ( https://twitter.com/lolraid/status/1017641891737763840). I made hella eye contact with Manabe for a long part of the show. I still remember he stared right at me for a part in Little Busters and that was just a really powerful moment for me hehe. I think Manabe may have recognized me from either the 2011 show ( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5138&p=133195&hilit=pick#p133195) or from Facebook. He threw a pick at me but I'm a bad catcher and it fell to the floor where someone else took it (that's fine). After the show we waited and I got to meet both Manabe and Sato and I told them where I'm from and to please sign my shit. My 2011 DVD was signed by Manabe and my Turn Back CD from both Manabe and Sato! Got a nice pic with Manabe too! I showed him this screenshot from the 2011 We Are Friends DVD where he bows his guitar and I was the only person with long enough arms to reach his guitar( https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/ ... e=5BD3773E). They both seemed surprised at Turn Back, is it supposed to be rare? Manabe told me to wait up and gave me a guitar pick. This trip was worth it already. The Irving show was waaaaay different. The Irving sound wasn't as crisp, but we got a spot RIGHT up front with duck, her bf, Alucard, some close friends, but also new friends from yesterday's show, Buster Bosque from the old forum days, MyFoot was around, we found Cloudy later down in the show, etc. I decided to take a picture of that moment as I don't know if I'll ever be surrounded by such a weird combination of different friends from different parts of my life (from partner to teenage friends to old forum friends from over 10 yrs to people I met yesterday). The crowd was way more respectful and relaxed and the Irving staff was awesome for giving water bottles to the people up front. The Irving stage is MUCH closer to the crowd which had the railing crowd waaaaay more pumped for this show. Noodles was amazing again. The pillows setlist was pretty much the same aside from playing Sleepy Head instead of Last Dinosaur ( https://twitter.com/lolraid/status/1017979488121090049). Sawao ended the show saying "REMEMBER ME!!! REMEMBER US!!!!" After the show we waited outside once again, I was determined to get Turn Back signed by Sawao to finish the collection and I brought my Energia single too. They came out after almost two hours lol. Manabe signed Energia (with a funny reaction) and Sawao got HYPE when he saw where I'm from (Duck's Sawao reaction picture is him looking at my phone lol). He was also surprised at Turn Back and I got a pic with him! This entire experience was the best time I've had since the 2011 show. Even if it's getting a lot of hate, I am so grateful that FLCL2 is a thing and that we were able to get this tour rolling thanks to Adult Swim/Production IG. I want to give a shout out to everyone I met during this show. Rob (pr0n?), Exa, Katie, duck, Ali, and anyone else I may have missed. Even though we barely interact because we all come from different parts of life, I am grateful that we all share this common love for this amazing band and I hope they come back real soon. Until next time if there is a next time, friends!
