Post Re: The Last Show you Went to/Next Show you will Go to
I've mostly just not had the money or transportation to see things. I almost saw Toots and the Maytals because my brother had tickets for it and couldn't go last year, but it was super last minute and I had school shit to work on at the time. I'm hoping I can see the Decemberists at some point before they become too different from their old stuff; I like a lot of their new stuff, but not quite as much as their older stuff, and I'm worried I won't ever see them play my favorites if I wait too long (but that point might've already past.) Wouldn't mind seeing the Aquabats again, though.

Saw your post on FB, seems like Weird Al was great. Nice little burst of nostalgia and nice seeing him continue to do his thing even though I haven't been following recent releases.

We saw this deep house producer a couple weeks ago called Nora en Pure. First time going out to a club rather than a bar or theater or whatever for the venue. Sick layout, ridiculously loud but very nice sound system.

Next we have What So Not. Saw him back around new years and it was a really great show, so my expectations and excitement are pretty high. :groovin:

Setlist for my show:

Young, Dumb and Ugly
Bob
Dare to be Stupid (Classic Rock Arrangement)
Stuck in a Closet with Vanna White
Buy Me a Condo
Good Old Days
CNR
Happy Birthday
Airline Amy
Albuquerque
UHF
Don't Download This Song
When I Was Your Age
Christmas at Ground Zero
Jackson Park Express

Unplugged Medley:
-Eat It
-I Lost On Jeopardy!
-Amish Paradise
-Smells Like Teen Spirit
-White and Nerdy
-I Love Rocky Road
-Like a Surgeon

Encore:
Elton John - Saturday Night's All Right (For Fighting)
The Saga Begins

As of writing this post, I found someone on youtube who also went to the same show and recorded it, so I get some examples to share! :whoa: I was having a little trouble hearing the words with the screamier lyrical style of Young, Dumb and Ugly and Stuck in a Closet with Vanna White and since it's musical comedy, hearing the lyrics clearly is obviously pretty important. Whether it was my seat or the equipment I dunno, it's ok though, I can hear better at home with headphones. https://youtu.be/jznpS0ibdeg Otherwise, amazing time!

:shred: :shred: :shred: :shred:

At one point a little more than halfway, Al had the drummer recite The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb. https://germanstories.vcu.edu/struwwel/daumen_e.html https://youtu.be/E8rsWz19KpY ^_^ As for songs I was most delighted to hear, I was joyed to hear Buy Me a Condo https://youtu.be/MLw1-tDUx9g and then the entire run from Happy Birthday onward https://youtu.be/ftDTmqYu_V8. Also, during Albuquerque, Al ad-libbed additional flavors of doughnuts in the bakery section of the song to mess with the audience's anticipation of the lyric "Do you have any bearclaws?" "wait a minute I'll go check". The funniest flavor of doughnut was "Do you have any Halle Berry doughnuts?" ^_^

For the encore, Al asked us to blurt out song titles at the count of three, and when we did, he joked "A lot of Elton John in there." https://youtu.be/8aEHYzNYS-M It appears that Al is doing a different cover for every show because I'm seeing Rebel Yell and Refugee etc.

I was hoping for Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota, but Atlantic City got it the week before! https://youtu.be/6vAphC7Q-qI?t=4m8s wooooo!

Also my dad told me that he stepped out during The Saga Begins to use the restroom before the crowd let out and was approached by Emo Philips in the halls. My dad was looking like a country western rancher with his thick coat, cowboy hat and walking cane so Emo asked him "How many head of cattle you have, sir?" He shook his hand and complimented his set. :) Emo was quite hilarious, my favorite gag was about halfway or so he took off his big, heavy jacket and started to put it in his pants pocket... and then it kept going into his pocket and down his pantleg and he got the whole thing in there! Gimmicked pants, and he did the rest of the set with the coat bulging in his leg haha! 8)

Posted in reply on FB a while back but that seems like it was fun.

We have two nights of Thursday this weekend, playing their first album tonight and the second album tomorrow.

Went to EDC and danced more than I've ever danced before. I didn't even partake of those MDMAs! Music was just irresistable and gave me energy I didn't know I had left night after night.

Highlights of the festival:
- all the artists I went to see specifically played far better than expected (especially Virtual Self, Dabin, and Rezz)
- unexpected extra sets of dope deep house all across day 3 (Chris Lake b2b Fisher followed by Jauz b2b Ghastly b2b i_o spinning up deep house together on one ofthe art cars, Camelphat b2b Solardo for the Camp EDC afterparty)
- "PLUR" vibes were real (people gave each other space to dance even at the main stages during big headliners, lots of sense of community in spite of the huge crowds, people raging hard without slamming each other when they headbanged to the hard stuff at the bass stage)

EDC was by far the best festival I've experienced so far, great stuff.

The last one was Miyavi's US tour a year or so ago, but I wished he could have sang more. Couldn't recognize his newer songs, but still a great guitarist.

Before that was ONE OK ROCK's concerts.

Next.. maybe The Pillows if I have a chance. Wish I could have seen AKG when they were in the US. Hope they also come back~
