The other side of the jacket is really cool.

The bonus video is pretty funny. Each member (and a guest from the band Fukurouzu) take turns being blindfolded and drink bottled tea. Then, they have to guess which tea they drank from a selection of 11. If they fail, the band manager Chie Arai hits them in the head with a folding fan. It's pretty entertaining.

If you want to see it, you should consider supporting the band and purchasing a copy. Piracy is pretty lame.

Not to start a whole thing, but being into music from another country is pretty tough. If the only way you can enjoy it is piracy, it is what it is. Not everyone can import shit, because it adds a huge tarrif on top of the base price. Especially if it's something not available with international shipping (I'm kind of kicking myself for grabbing the vinyls at 100 bucks when I probably shouldn't have).

Being an uber fan is cool and all, if you can afford it, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I cherish my physical collection. I still do import shit when I can. But certainly not every release, which has been hit or miss in recent years anyway, in my own opinion.

EDIT: That is a dope reverse-side of the DVD jacket!

With the prices that Amazon JP offers plus international shipping, it still costs well below the base price of the DVD/Blu-ray. "I can't have it, so please upload it for the entire internet, it is what it is" isn't an attitude that I agree with.

But anyway, I'm sure that some "fan" will eventually upload it to Jpoopscoopy. So if you insist on piracy, be patient and wait. It makes sense that they people who actually bought it have priority in watching it.

Yeah, this is a good general policy. If you're not gonna pay for it, why should you get it right away, at the exact time that you demand it? I don't mean that you shouldn't get stuff at all if you can't pay for it, but it's definitely really entitled to ask for it around the time of the release date (imo 1 year after the release date is probably the ideal lag time between a Pillows DVD release and an upload).

I have a particular "fan" in mind that I'm waiting on, like many others, since my money is going towards a million other releases as a result of the recent vinyl inundation in Japan. I'm content to wait for the BD, but I'm itchin' to buy the recent Delicious Label stuff (both new Pillows singles and the new Casablanca album). Hopin' to have enough cash by mid-January to drop on those.

but the real question: is it a good concert vid? haven't been impressed with anything as a whole since the 916 dvd. that one had some really aggressive and great sounding instruments and varied camerawork. the two videos before it were cool too. moondust light for you was pretty "lit" but the guitar is so digital sounding and drowned out to me. generic k-pop tier production. i bought the recent vinyl so i'll just wait for a rip if anything lol

if they filmed something at hibiya park outdoor theater with a real sound team i'd buy it

I'm sure it'll have the same "generic k-pop tier production" as all the DVDs since [i]Horn Again[/i]. Personally, I don't look for the "aggressive" sound of the 90s Pillows stuff anymore. I dig what they've got goin' for them nowadays; great pop songs with energy and emotion behind it. I think if you're down with their newer material, you'll be down with this newest DVD, but seeing as you haven't been completely into their video releases from the past (almost) 15 years, I don't think you'll be impressed with [i]Nook in the World[/i].

imo The Pillows sound better now on DVD than ever. back in the [i]916[/i] days, and actually all the way to [i]Wake Up Stand Up[/i], Sawao was playin a Fender Jaguar and always got a real crunchy tone out of it, which I thought was ugly as hell (although fine on the records) and only made worse by the DVD production (and the fact that Manabe also played a Jag for a good while before switching over to that white guitar which preceded the Sago). also all of the members werent as great at playing live (especially Sawao on vocals) as they've been since [i]Parts of OOParts[/i]; they had tons of energy but were less exact, as opposed to nowadays, where they have almost as much energy and pretty much hit every note perfectly. the smoother production of the newer videos is a lot nicer on the ears for me and with the current precision and energy of the band, the videos since [i]Parts of OOParts[/i] have sounded freakin epic.

their playing has cleaned up for sure. manabe never misses a note on Moonlight Dust Whatever. sawao might stop yelping live entirely when he's 60. 3rd movement live should be awesome though. manabe is playing a jazzmaster now if you follow them on twitter/ig

my beef was more with the production than the actual playing, which i'm sure sounds way better in person
