Just a megathread title so that way we can keep talking about the new Final Fantasies all the way until the series stops at 29. (Because who's going to be able to google FFXXX, amirite?)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to FFXV. I kinda fell off the hype bandwagon for a while there, but after watching the new trailers and playing the new demo, I am excite.

But holy fuck, $300 for the deluxe version of the game!?!? Holy fuck, it sold out of 30,000 copies in like 2 days!?!?

Holy fuck, I was one of those suckers!?!?

I haven't been playing any of the recent FF games due to lack of modern gaming equipment, but I'm planning to go back to FFVI after finishing Breath of Fire 2 over here.

So apparently I was not part of the first 30,000 and got put on the priority list. It's kinda bittersweet. On one hand, I felt like a doof for shelling out that much for a game I wasn't sure I'd like -that- much, but I am still a little disappointed at the same time.


Anyway, I played through the Platinum demo, and it was a lot of fun. Combat was way better than the original demo and being able to freely switch between weapons to make combos was pretty awesome. Combat might be a tad bit simple, and I would've liked to remap my attack button, but overall, it was better than I was dreading.

That being said, I am super excited about the character design of the enemies I've seen in the trailers so far, and being able to fight an Iron Giant in the demo and seeing old-school Final Fantasy I GOBLINS taking form is very nostalgic. Playing this demo reminded me a bit of Kingdom Hearts, so I'm also starting to get excited for the new one. I haven't played the originals though, so there's that. I'm hoping for a PS4 port before the new one gets released, but we shall see.

Graphically, the game is phenomenal. It's kind of a shame, really, since you can tell the game is being limited by the hardware. Part of this makes me think they're making a current gen version and a PC version would probably be souped-up in comparison.
