 Jun Suzuki FIRED: come speculate
So the pillows just posted this on twitter: https://twitter.com/thepillowsJPN/statu ... _medium=fbWhich indicates the dude pictured will be playing bass for them at two of their upcoming shows. All the comments are like "What's up with Suzuki? Is he not playing for the pillows anymore?" It actually has been several concerts now that they've been getting various other bassists to play with them, wonder if he's busy with Fragments or Kaminarigumo?

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
Maybe he got tired of being their "Guest Musician" and walked.

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
I'm ok with this because Kashima has played two concerts with them recently as a result. I like Jun but Tatsuya has always been the better bassist.

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
I assume he's just performing with other bands. I remember last summer he was touring with The Collectors. So he's probably caught up doing that sort of thing again.

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
Speaking of, I hope they give us DVDs of the Kashima shows or something, because why would you not?

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
Mafu pointed out to me that the guy's in a band called Bakudan Johnny. They did a song for the Ping-Pong anime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v6iOVhw6mQEDIT: Okay now that I'm not being lazy, I googled up what Suzuki's been doing. He's playing next month as part of a group called Kinkyuu Band with dudes named Furuichi Koutarou and Kuhara Kazuyuki, and earlier in May he played a single night session of originals and covers and jamming with some other musicians, called the group for the night "oni session." He played a couple of shows with Kinkyuu Band last summer, as well. http://suzukijun.net/live.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dSn9yOeHqg (skip up to 8:20 for gold)

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
Cool finds. Also the Pees must of played that show too. You can see them at the end of part 2.

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
Well, "2-man Pees" (or perhaps "2-pees," like a play on two-piece?) which is Sato and one of the dudes from the Pees (edit: vocalist), was one of the performers listed for that show: http://suzukijun.net/live_past.html緊急ナイト (Kinkyuu Night) club SONIC iwaki 出演:うつみようこ、2人ピーズ(大木温之&佐藤シンイチロウ)、緊急バンド(古市コータロー、鈴木淳、クハラカズユキ) Featuring: Utsumi Youko, Futari Pees (Ooki Haruyuki & Satou Shinichirou), Kinkyuu band (Furuichi Kootaroo, Suzuki Jun, Kuhara Kazuyuki)

Re: Jun Suzuki and the mysteriously long break
It's official, Jun's BEEN FIRED from the pillows: http://natalie.mu/music/news/147795The official explanation is that his behavior has been bad for a while now and so they're letting him go. It was decided late in 2014, and he officially stopped playing with the band after the Moondust tour. Apparently there have actually been issues for years and years, with a lot of warnings and discussions and "yellow cards" being given to him, but he didn't get his shit together, in whatever way he was being troublesome. Wonder if this is related to his trouble getting a visa? Maybe the dude got arrested in Japan over something and couldn't go to the States as a result? Will have to read up more on things, there's a 2ch thread that one of my Japanese friends linked for anybody who reads some Japanese and is interested: http://orpheus.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/li ... 432104962/

Re: Jun Suzuki FIRED from the pillows
Wow, really? That's kind of shocking. Mare, I saw that Mika had posted that thing on Facebook, too, but didn't think much about it! Any speculation on who will be a replacement?

Re: Jun Suzuki FIRED from the pillows
Kashima pls. Fourth Movement is coming!
Edit: Part of the problem was Jun getting too drunk repeatedly, in specific. Yaro, Mika was saying a girl bassist would be nice and could help bring up their energy level lol.

Jun: You can't fire me! I don't even work here!
Sawao: Yes... That's what makes this so difficult.

Haha, lolin over here. Yeah I mean it's actually kinda hard to know, over time, what sort of effect being a "Guest musician" and not a full member had on Jun and his relationship to the band. Of course if he's fucking up and doing troublesome shit, the band has every right to cut ties. You just wonder though. Would things be the same if he had been member #4 for all these years? Speculation is pointless now, but I wonder.
