They should do a Sayonara Universe Spicy Baja version to round things off going into the 4th Movement.

I found the Spacey Baroque mix interesting and enjoyable, though I would have liked a bit broader of dynamics.

Piss-poor attempt after the surprisingly delightful Trial. Can't even go though the album in its entirety. It's the same kind of crap they've been pulling ever since they switched to Avex. The only acceptable tracks in my book are Clean Slate Revolution, Break a Time Machine!, Tokai no Alice, Happy Birthday and to some extent Message and Ideal Affection. The rest is unlistenable.

It's justified hate (albeit that's too strong a word). I immensely enjoyed Trial because it truly felt like they were trying to make something good. Moondust feels just like another Horn Again, a half-arsed attempt of a record that's been characterizing this band for years. Sorry, but that's the truth.

I love this band, but I'm not a sheep to like everything they put out.

There's only really two tracks I'm meh about, those being song for you and ideal affection. That and incorporating the random "hey!" in a few songs... I think break a time machine and ideal affection, those weren't really needed.

I felt pretty much the same way, which was my aforementioned dissapointment with it as well. I haven't listened to it since my last review on here to be honest, and that's been okay. Trial is in my permanent rotation, I loved it. This step backwards was very dissapointing, similar to when I'd heard Horn Again.

I would really like to hear this album live and see how it can sound. At their core, I think the pillows have always been much more of a live band.

I really love Trial and Horn Again.

I don't enjoy Moondust nearly as much, but I don't see any particular similarity in it to their other Avex albums, which are pretty varied from one another.

I'd call Pied Piper and Ooparts their weakest overall albums but that's not due to "being too samey" or anything, but because of qualities I don't like that are unique and specific to those records. The Avex albums each have their own mood. Whether you think those albums are any good is your business, but they're not the same album. Plz.

This be true, a lot of the Horn Again/Ooparts tracks actually sound good live. I'd like to hear how these fare.

I don't need to justify anything. If you think what the band have been putting out ever since they switched to Avex can be compared to their previous records (with the exception of Trial, and maybe Wake Up to some extent), then I really think you're in the vast minority here.

If you don't think so, but you still consider them good records, that's perfectly fine. Taste in music is subjective, there's no other way around it. That's why I said earlier it wasn't necessary to mention the word [i]opinion[/i]. But I won't let my own opinion be swayed because I'm being distasteful towards what I consider poor quality by Pillows standards.

Oi, chill out there Essel. He's acknowledged your point already, try to avoid taking digs at people if you want to comment further on how we express our opinions. I get what you're saying here, and I agree that he could acknowledge what you're saying more directly (i.e., I also get the feeling that there's a bit of backpedaling to defend throwing insults out about other people's opinions when his own opinion is challenged), but gotta set the example of how you want a place to be if you expect people to change.

I wasn't trying to suggest that, at all. What I meant is that my distaste towards their music in recent years is genuine, and just because I'm a big Pillows fan won't sway me from criticizing them. It wasn't directed towards you or anyone else.

And when I said "the same kind of crap", I meant in terms of sheer music quality, albeit I do believe that they seem to stuck in a particular style of sounding that doesn't do justice to their talent. This is especially true for Manabe. His guitar work has lost most of its magic.
