Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
I know Hisako helped Koji (from Supercar/Lama) record his most recent album, which was released a month or so ago. But I haven't heard from any other members.

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
Did the Butchers ever write a bad song? There are some like better than others, however I"m finding them to be a lot like NG in that I can listen to pretty much any one of their songs and enjoy it on some level. I finally picked up the rest of their discography and I'm amazed at how solid it is from start to finish. Such an awesome band Wish Yoshimura was still around.

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
I haven't gotten to that level with them yet. There are still songs that I have to skip, but I know what you mean. They are one of those bands that just capture those feels just right.
Also the guitar work is impeccable. I think they may have perfected imperfect line performance. They have so many riffs and fills that are "almost fit" but not quite. But then there's a certain beauty that comes from those rough edges that form a new perfection. There's definitely lots of moments with this band that can never be repeated by any other band ever.

One thing that baffles me about btb is how they can make a perfect performance ala the album version of July yet make it so rough and raw and perfect in all its imperfections in the live version. EDIT: Apparently there were 2 more tribute albums I was unaware of. Does anyone have the last two? http://www.bloodthirsty-butchers.com/ne ... %E5%AE%9A/Edit2: I offer this live version of Copass Grinderz covering July as tribute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmWKduK0LWw

EDIT: Apparently there were 2 more tribute albums

Had no idea about those. There are some solid contributors, though. Might even be better than the other two. Will have to keep an eye out for them.

Gonna be watching for these like a hawk.

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
I've been keeping my eyes open for the two latest tributes, as the lineup on those are incredible, but haven't seen a thing yet.

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
I surprisingly still like the album as much as I did when it was released. Each individual track is pretty good, in my opinion, and I don't cringe or mentally exhale when they pop up in shuffle. However, that may be all Youth is to me--a collection of good songs. Of course, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. The album is just nothing more than the sum of its parts, which is something you can't say about Kouya Ni Okeru.
Now, I know I'm venturing into pretentious twat territory here, but there is -something- special about an album like Kouya Ni Okeru. From the album artwork to the feeling you get when each track effortlessly carries you to the next, the album has a presence. It's a presence that can't quite be explained objectively, but you feel it. While I would describe Kouya Ni Okeru as "an audible enigma that evokes instant nostalgia and vague longing," Youth will mundanely live in my brain as "the last Bloodthirsty Butchers album."
Maybe not "the album we were all hoping it would be in our post-Yoshimura world," but serviceable nonetheless.
tl;dr: good album, but it doesn't bother giving you a reach-around
I'm a bitch for this. I have stupid opinions

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
I still think Youth is awesome and is the best album BTB released since Banging The Drum.

Re: Bloodthirsty Butchers
Man, I listened to Distortion at full blast today. That production is ace! Man, that drumming is spectacular. I love the song so much! The jam/climax at the end of the guitar solo is one of my favorite BtB moments. Then it just goes right back into the chorus... man. So good.

I stated my opinion of LAMA on YouTube once and the uploader thought I was trolling
