Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
How do you guys usually translate it?
Do you want a literal translation, or do you want a more natural translation?

I'm not sure what kind of translations we get, I always assumed they were just translations, haha.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
haha ok. I probably won't be too literal, because Japanese and english doesn't translate well. It would sound like nonsense. haha
But it will be a translation of the song. Not something totally random. haha

I prefer the natural translations, if you can do so without perverting the original meaning too much. But hey man, it's your call.
EDIT: Well, there you go.

Yeah my whole goal is to preserve the meaning. Sometimes literal translations just don't express the true value and meaning at all. And they're very cold and emotionless.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
I've loved it exponentially more, every time a track comes on shuffle. Especially the title track, I wasn't the biggest initial fan, but I've been loving it as of late.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
My opinion of it hasn't really changed. Still haven't really listened to Mochinushi or Polaris enough to form an opinion. The title track is one of their best singles in recent years, IMO.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Overall I still think it's pretty meh, but definitely an improvement over Horn Again. Also, I agree with LH: title track is up there as one the best singles the pillows have released in recent years. And definitely the best track on the album. Actually, come to think of it, I've been pretty happy with recent pillows singles in general…

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
I'd like Hiking instead of Ready Steady Go! to close it out. I don't know why they choose to create anthem-type songs for every album lately... I'm not going to say they shouldn't make them for never being able to recreate the magic of Little Busters/Runner's High etc. It's not fair for me to say that, it's their art. But these songs just don't have it lately. Going backwards: Ready Steady Go! Doggie Howl Life Size Life Poison Rock 'N Roll Youngster ( this one is an exception! <3) Rock'n'roll Sinners I feel like the last good one was Mr. Droopy; I remember when I first heard that song live (ever actually) was the first time they did Gramercy Theater NYC, we'd just heard New Animal for the first time and this song came next as a total surprise. Afterwards I totally forgot what New Animal sounded like, Mr. Droopy was the one that stuck! But to return to the original point, I liked that Trial had a distinct mood and a sense of connectivity between songs. Ready Steady Go! doesn't really belong on the album, it feels superficially added in.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
I wasn't crazy about the album at first. I tried to let it grow on me, but it just got old fast. Months later, my opinion on the album has probably lessened from my initial impression. It's not all bad. There are a few decent tracks, and I really love Trial. But, for example, when most of these tracks start playing when I'm listening to music on shuffle, I let out a groan and quickly change to the next song. Also, if I'm listening to Trial I always try to switch it before the song ends so it doesn't go into the horrid intro of Ready Steady Go!.
Overall it's just... a really dull album, in my opinion.

Re: the pillows - TRIAL (Album Discussion)
Ready Steady Go, while the song itself isn't the best, I love the intro. It has a real classic bluesy rock feel.
