I'm going to finish Breath of Fire 2 for the first time later today.

Never beat it when I was a kid, got it for GBA many years back but I forgot to get the Empire sword (permanently missed now) and stopped playing lol. I saw Breath of Fire 2 when I was looking through my games and I was like "YOUUUUUUUU!!! IN THE DS! RIGHT NOW!"

I've never even seen Deathevn, somehow I haven't been spoiled through the internet. He's probably 3/4 the screen with six heads and 100 dicks. DEATHEVN I'M COMIN' FOR YOU NIGGA!

XII was probably the biggest linear piece of crap I've played. The only nonlinear thing was the bounty system and it was mostly time consuming and boring, save a few like the Gilgamesh fight.

I don't see a problem with linearity when there's a [i]somewhat[/i] compelling story being told. Complaining about linearity in a video game is whatever (look at Half Life), but complaining about linearity in a JRPG is just kinda.. eh.

Complaining about linearity in such a game is like complaining about linearity in the movie theater. You're missing the point of the game entirely.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm not really sure why linearity became known as being "bad" in a game. A game can be linear and bad, but it isn't necessarily bad because it's linear. In this day and age games have become a medium of story telling, such as books or movies. Aside from the obvious multiplayer triple-a titles, people don't want to play a game that has a totally shit story, and with story there [i]generally[/i] comes a bit of linearity.

It sucked because unlike FFXII, most other FF's had at least [i]some[/i] sidequesting that either added more depth to the story, was entertaining, or both. Look at FFVI, getting all of the characters back together was technically sidequesting, but it definitely added to the plot or characterization. Imo, FFXII lacked a compelling story, and if a game doesn't have a compelling story, I can overlook it for its other features, like sidequests. FFVIII didn't have the strongest story imo, but it had an amazingly fun card game.

While FFX was a very linear game, but at least its sidequests were relevant to the game. (Not including finding the Celestial Weapons, some of which requirements were just stupid hard. Lulu, anyone?)

Update on Breath of Fire 2, I was enthralled to see that Deathevn indeed had a large number of dicks, [i]and[/i] they had teeth!

Skyrim's been hella fun. I'm surprised at how beast bows actually are in this game...I also have an exploratory problem in that I never complete the main quest because I spend all my time fooling around, exploring. I already have 2 words of power and still no idea what a dragon soul is. :x

Hahahaha. Gotta kill them dragons, son. I"ve invested wayyyy too much time into that game, somewhere around 65 hours. 50 of those were within a week of the midnight release.

Finished Dead Rising a few nights ago. I gotta say, after reading some of the reviews, it's a pretty underrated game. A consummate gaming experience in my opinion.

I'm still playing Skyrim and LoL.

I'm at level 40, have 13 words of power, am the Thane of Markarth, pretty much have the southwest side of the map completed and still have 0 dragon souls, and still haven't started the main story.

How does that stop you from playing Skyrim? Were you in the hospital or something?

Actually Blank I think that's something that happens in the game. Could be wrong though, I haven't touched Skyrim.

Still need to get/play Skyward Sword as well. Just been hitting that Ultimate MvC3 crack pipe too much lately.
