Re: what are you reading?
I just read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and now I'm currently reading Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up

See, my mom is a huge fan of Stephen King, and he's a GREAT story writer, but I can't help but find his prose extremely dry.
I wish I could stand to read him, but I can't, so I can only go off of these movies:
Shawshank Redemtion Green Mile The Langoliers The Stand IT Running Man The Shining Carrie Cujo Stand By Me Misery
to evaluate Stephen King.
...
He's a beast.
P.S. Did you hear they're remaking The Stand?
Did you hear they're remaking The Stand?
Yeah, I'm not a fan. The miniseries was great, but it does need the six hours to get told right. Also if WB does do it, it won't be able to cross into the new Dark Tower Movies/TV Series...

It had an astounding amount of high-profile cast members. Despite being six one-hour episodes long, it still seemed a bit rushed. I'm curious as to see how they'll reconcile that in one movie. I was reading an article that mentioned how the mini-series was watered down for the sake of television, but that a movie-version wouldn't have to be as watered down. To those unfamiliar with Stephen King, but have seen IT, you should check out the differences between the movie and the novel of IT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_%281990 ... l_and_film

What what what!!
NBC Universal is producing The Dark Tower as a 3 Movie/2 TV miniseries project with Ron Howard set to direct the first movie and TV installment and Akiva Goldsman to write. Details Here
If WB adapts The Stand, and they're the ones working on the movie adaptation, I'm not sure how the relationship between the two would work out. Marvel can't get most of it's own heroes into the Avengers movie, because they're spread across three different studios. Last I heard Jackman was trying just to get a cameo for Wolverine...

Re: what are you reading?
Hopefully it doesn't suck. I never read The Stand though, just the Dark Tower books... I guess the main crossover is the character Randall Flagg? I guess I'll have to put that on my to-read list. I never did look up all the crossovers. I'm quite looking forward to the Game of Thrones series though.
I guess the main crossover is the character Randall Flagg?
That and the world they end up in after Blaine the Mono crashes in Wizard and Glass is the world of The Stand. There are a couple references to Mother Abigail, and I think even a reference to the boys from Eyes of the Dragon... Oh and:
I'm quite looking forward to the Game of Thrones series though.
YES.

Re: what are you reading?
I recently read: - The Game - Neil Strauss (non-fiction) It entertained me.
(I came to know of it existence thanks to Thinline, actually most books I read nowadays I get from IM, hehe. So if you really want me to get to read a good book, just post something here about it) A book that easily keeps you reading. However all was fine up to the point project Hollywood started, it was mostly some cheap drama serie from there.
Now reading: - Tunnel People - Teun Voeten (non-fiction) It interests me.
Voeten is a dutch war journalist/anthropologist. It gives you some view to the realm of the "homeless" people in the tunnels under Manhattan during the mid 90's.
- 1q84 part 3 - Haruki Murakami (pretty much fiction) It disappoints me.
Really.
Hmmm, so I'm planning to go to the Philippines this year, somewhere in may. Someone knows a nice book I can read in the plane and during my stay?

Re: what are you reading?
Somehow I feel like I'm going to be let down by 1Q84. I like lots of Murakami's other novels but for some reason I don't feel so good about this one.
